Based on an analysis of monographs and the main scientific studies devoted to Karel Havlíček, the article aims to present the basic topics and directions of research on Karel Havlíček while drawing attention to professional desiderata. It deals with Havlíček’s monumental biography by Karel Kazbunda, which was not published until five decades after it was written, and other, smaller monographic publications on Havlíček. Among other things, the paper describes also other works analysing Havlíček’s other life, his work as a journalist and his involvement in the polemics against the book of poems České listy by Siegfried Kapper, and indicates new impulses for research brought by the editorial preparation and synoptic analysis of Havlíček’s correspondence.

Studie podává příklady praktického chodu cenzurní praxe v předbřeznovém Rakousku. Na příkladu Františkem Palackým vydané edice Starých letopisů českých a počátků vydávání českého a německého muzejního časopisu analyzuje vzájemný kontakt mezi spisovatelia cenzory a věnuje se otázce rozptýleného výkonu cenzury uvnitř celého literárního pole.

This paper aims at demonstrating the principal similarity between the formation of the standardized languages in Middle and Eastern Europe in the time of the classical national movement (19th century) and the processes of creating new dialectal or regional language versions of the free internet encyclopaedia Wikipedia. According to Harald Haarmann, the formation of language corpus, language status and language prestige are distinguished. The use of the language is connected with the function of prestige much more than with the classical communicative purpose. This thesis is illustrated by “useless” translations from the dominating languages to the minority ones as well as by the creation of automatically generated Wikipedia articles. The Wikipedia in a minority or regional language can play a role in establishing a norm by the selection of existing variants. The article also shows the history and the contemporary state of the policy for creating new language versions of Wikipedia.
