A method for current and torque ripple reduction in sliding-mode-controlled induction motor drive... more A method for current and torque ripple reduction in sliding-mode-controlled induction motor drives is proposed. It is based on the use of a digital pulse-width modulation technique in the power coverter command, making it possible to obtain a mean converter output voltage vector closer to the one determined by the control logic and an alternative method of current limitation that

The electrical dynamic equations of a PMSM are modified to obtain the sliding mode observer model where the induced e.m.f., position and speed are estimated using measured stator currents and voltages. The electrical dynamic equations of PMSM are modified to obtain the sliding mode observer model and then the variables are estimated by using only measured stator currents and voltages.

The method is developed in time domain and it relies on the natural tendency to synchronization of interconnected incrementally dissipative nonlinear oscillators. Simulations of two interconnected UPS systems to a given resistive load are carried out, taking into consideration specific problems associated with the practical implementation in a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) based system.

In the proposed technique, boundary restrictions can be easily incorporated to minimize the harmonic distortion output voltages, to limit the minimum pulse width and to balance the voltages of the DC-link capacitor bank. The solutions obtained are simple algebraic equations relating directly the pulse widths of the gate signals to the phase reference voltages. Computer simulation and experimental results are used to demonstrate the main features of the proposed technique
