Neste artigo e destacado um uso que esta havendo de elementos da filosofia de Peirce na literatura psicanalitica. Sao examinados trabalhos de autores bastante reconhecidos nesta area, procurando contribuicoes de nocoes peircianas para o esclarecimento de questoes psicanaliticas. O tema de um dos trabalhos e como os signos de Peirce poderiam auxiliar no preenchimento de uma lacuna conceitual existente na psicanalise, em relacao a fenomenos que existem entre o que sao chamadas de “equacoes simbolicas” (representacoes vividas como fatos, encontradas em psicoticos) e a simbolizacao propriamente dita, conforme e designada na psicanalise. Outro trabalho questiona a nocao de Jacques Lacan de que o inconsciente se estrutura como uma linguagem, sugerindo que os signos de Peirce, particularmente os icones e indices, seriam mais adequados para o pensamento sobre os fenomenos inconscientes do que os linguisticos usados por Lacan. Um terceiro trabalho da um bom exemplo de como as nocoes filosoficas de Peirce podem trazer esclarecimentos na area clinica, pois elas sao usadas para responder a criticas, a um tratamento de maes-bebes, de que as palavras nao podem ser entendidas pelos bebes. O autor diz que ao falar nao esta somente usando signos simbolicos, mas tambem icones e indices, por meio das expressoes faciais, atitudes, tons de voz, etc., que sao transmitidas para os bebes. O ultimo dos trabalhos e mais complexo, na medida em que nele sao atribuidas significacoes duvidosas a algumas concepcoes de Peirce, o que necessita ser alvo de discussao.

In this paper, the author starts by examining the recent occurrence of an increasing receptivity and critical exchange between different schools of psychoanalytical thought. Among its consequences have been convergences in the understanding of countertransference, especially through the hypotheses of projective identification and countertransferential enactment. The prevalence of these hypotheses points towards the fact that the community of analysts is bringing about an informal and convergent clinical research conducted by a wide and heterogeneous range of its members. The importance and epistemological relevance of this kind of 'informal clinical research' for the construction of psychoanalytical knowledge is emphasised. This process in psychoanalysis is compared with the evolution of knowledge in other scientific areas, highlighting their similarities and their differences. The author shows how Freud's 'mystic writing-pad'model can be expanded to represent the object of psychoanalytical investigation and to bring a better understanding of the reason why the hypotheses of projective identification and countertransferential enactment occupy such a central position in psychoanalysis. In addition, consideration is given to how this kind of research can help in the difficult task of finding criteria for the evaluation of different psychoanalytical concepts. Finally, the author demonstrates how, using this approach, some of the important divergences in contemporary psychoanalysis can be viewed from a new perspective.
