The contamination source for aluminum, iron, nickel and lead in the Botanical garden of Mobarakeh Steel Company was recognized by analyzing the leaves and topsoil of two evergreen species: Quercus brantii and Ligustrum vulgare . Availability of the studied elements for plants was investigated by measuring their total and extractable concentration inthe soils. For ensuring air borne source of these metals, plant tissues were washed with distilled water. Plant available heavy metals of the soils were few in comparison with the total values which were related to the high pH value and the CaCO 3 percentage in the soils around each plant. On the other hand, significant differences were obtained between the washed and unwashed leaves in both species indicating metal contaminations from the atmosphere. Significant differences were...

During this day a considerable amount of Leachate is produced with high amounts of organic material and nutrients needed plants. This study has done in order to scrutinize the effect of Leachate compost on the pH, EC and organic matter percentage in the form of statistical Factorial plan through randomizing block design with three main and two minor treatments and also three replications during three six month periods. Major treatments include N: Irrigation with the region’s well water as a control, I: Frequent irrigation with well water and Leachate, C: Mixing Leachate and water well (25 percent leachate + 75 percent ordinary well water) and secondary treatments, include DI: surface drip irrigation and SDI: sub surface drip irrigation. Results of this study indicated significant differences between treatments and also there were mixing up with the control treatment in the reduct...

The purpose of this study was assessed the capacity of nanoclay to control soil erosion in wind tunnel experiment. The nanoclay isolated from soils was dominant in montmorillonite. A sandy soil from the Khara desert, nearly 100 km East of Isfahan (Central Iran) was used. The soils of this area are structurally unstable and sandy texture makes these soils highly erodible for most seasons. After packing the soil samples in the trays and before setting them in the wind tunnel, the samples were treated with distilled water as control and nanoclay at a rate of 2 g L−1 were uniformly spread on the soil surface. The volume of water and nanoclay solutions was 0.5 L. The treatments were performed in the condition with wind velocity of 8.60, 15.34. Every experiment lasted 5.0 min. The results reveal that the soil erosion amount decreased with the usage of nanoclay. The effect of nanoclay with 2 g L–1 on controlling wind erosion was signi...

Polluted water is harmful to human health and need to purify. One of the economic and rapid methods for elements removal is displacement of metals by biosorption. Two treatments in four replications for the purpose of purifying wastewater by Ceratophyllum demersum were designed. The treatments included raw municipal wastewater (RMW) and treated municipal wastewater (TMW). The experiment was performed at the open air of Khorasgan University area for 18 days without aeration. Result of the COD indicated that the COD of RMW and TMW were decreased from 664 to 152.75 mg/l and 260 to 64.5 mg/l, respectively. Also, this investigation demonstrated that the amount of ammonium in RMW and TMW decreased from135 to 15 meq/l and 90 to 10 meq/l, respectively. The amount of nitrate in RMW and TMW had a similar decreased from 60 to 30 meq/l as well as 4.48 to 0.53 meq/l, respectively...

The existing wastewater treatment plants do not have sufficient capacity to treat such a huge volume of wastewater. In arid and semiarid region, soil type as well as climate is different from the others, so the aim of this paper is the review of literature on the effects of wastewater reuse in agriculture. Methods An extensive literature review was conducted to evaluate urban wastewater effects on soil, plant and environment. Results One of the best methods for wastewater disposal is wastewater discharge into the soil. However, as it was revealed in this research, in most cases, this method would lead to increased salinity, SAR, organic matter content, permeability, and electric conductivity as well as reduced soil bulk density. Nevertheless, wastewater effect on soil physical properties depends on its cha...

The aim of this study was to assess the effect of using nanoclay for increasing soil stability, as a result of increasing in size of soil aggregation, and improving soil water holding capacity, as well as improving soil structure in sandy soil. An experiment was conducted with two treatments (0 and 3000 mg/l nanoclay were uniformly spread on the soil surface) in four replications on sandy soil, in Khara desert, nearly 100 km east of Isfahan, Iran. The annual rainfall is about 68/55 mm, mean annual ET0 is 2800 mm/year, and the elevation is 1450 m above sea level. Amount of soil erosion was measured with different wind velocity (31.0, 55.2 and 67.3 km h−1). An aggregation size and water retention of collected soil samples we...
