Despite a long history of political relations between Portuguese-Speaking Countries (PLP, in its ... more Despite a long history of political relations between Portuguese-Speaking Countries (PLP, in its Portuguese acronym) and China, only recently did the economic relations between these countries assume a more central role. Research in this area is scarce and normally limited to the analysis of macro-economic data. Little is known about cultural, linguistic and other social issues faced by entrepreneurs and corporations operating in these markets, or about their perception of their counterparts. This applied research project will study these relations under an economic, cultural and social perspective to assess whether the potential generated by Forum Macao and other cooperation frameworks is being fully utilized, detect success cases and best practices as well as areas for improvement. Moreover, at the end of this one year project, a model of analysis will be developed to form the basis of an ongoing barometer that can then be applied regularly to assess the developments in these business relations between China and the PLP. This data and analysis will be important primarily to governments, chambers of commerce, trade associations and companies.
