Colposcopy is considered a stressful and painful procedure. High anxiety levels stem from a lack of knowledge about the procedure and fear of pain. One of the best ways to relieve anxiety is to provide women with knowledge to improve awareness, cooperation during procedures and compliance. Video assisted-teaching is considered as an effective method to provide accurate practical knowledge, decrease anxiety levels and reduce the pain experience among women undergoing colposcopy. Aim of the study: is to evaluate the effect of video assisted-teaching on level of knowledge, anxiety and pain among women undergoing colposcopy. Research design: A quasi-experimental research design was utilized. Setting: The study was conducted at the colposcopy outpatient clinics at Obstetrics and Gynecology outpatient department at El Kaser Aliniy University Hospital, Cairo University, Egypt. Sample: A purposive sample of 70 women was recruited for the study. Tools:  Five tools were used for data collecti...

We applied the new technique or Zeeman-Doppler Imaging (measuring circularly polarized spectra to detect magnetic structures on rapidly rotating stars) on 9 active RS CVn binary systems. In 4 systems (HR 1099, σ 2 CrB, II Peg and UX Ari), we detected a magnetic field on the cool active component; in each or them, the corresponding Stokes V signature is found to vary with rotational phase. Moreover, on HR 1099, we have observational evidence that the magnetic structure varied significantly within a period of 1.3 yr

Background: Nowadays, the collection of stem cells from the blood of the umbilical cord is one of the most important topics of health sciences and new technology. However, cord blood is now considered a rich source of adult stem cells that can be used to treat many conditions and diseases. It is still a controversial topic. The current study aims to assess pregnant women's knowledge and attitude toward umbilical cord banking and stem cell. Research design: Descriptive exploratory research design was adopted to achieve the aim of the study. Setting: The study was conducted at the obstetrics &gynecology outpatient clinic at Beni-Suef University hospital in Egypt. Subjects: A convenient sample of 200 pregnant women was recruited. Tools of data collection: three tools were used for this study (1) Maternal structured interviewing questionnaire and (2) knowledge assessment questionnaire and (3) attitude assessment questionnaire. Results: It was found that 42.5% had an average level of knowledge regarding cord blood banking and stem cell with the negative attitude (67%) with no statistically significant difference (p >0.05). Besides, the sources of information were social media followed by nurses/ midwives. Conclusion: The present study concluded that despite nearly half of the pregnant women had average level knowledge but the majority of them had a negative attitude toward umbilical cord blood banking and stem cell. Recommendations: adequately planned in-service training programs related to cord blood collection and stem cells established to distribute among the pregnant women who attending the antenatal clinics.

Background Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common rheumatic disease of the knee and causes uncontrolled pain and disability. It affects millions of people across different races at different ages and of both sexes. Daily physical exercise is the first line of management for women with early OA to maintain muscle strength, physical fitness, and overall health. Aim The aim of the study was to evaluate the impact of physical exercise on the activities of daily living in women with early OA. Participants and methods A quasiexperimental design ‘time-series’ was used to achieve the objectives of the study. A total of 46 women were recruited from the outpatient clinic of El-Demerdash University Hospital. Tools of data collection Three tools were developed and used by researchers to collect the data: (a) a structured interview questionnaire; (b) scale of daily living activities; and (c) a physical exercise questionnaire for women with OA. The women performed exercises at the rate of one session per week for a period of 1 month in the presence of researchers, who clarified any queries. Results The women were aged 43–65 years, with a mean age of 41.8±14.67 years. There are significant differences regarding pain intensity, degree of difficulty, and need for assistance after practicing physical exercises. Conclusion A regular exercise program improved the daily living activity levels of women with early OA. There was also a significant improvement in pain, knee flexion, muscle strength, and functional capacity after practicing physical exercise. Recommendation Nurses have an active role in raising awareness about the importance of physical exercise in the treatment of early OA. Hospitals should implement a plan of action to include exercise in early OA treatment for women.
