This cross-sectional study was carried out in the department of Physiology of Mymensingh Medical College, Mymensingh from July 2014 to June 2015. For this purpose, total 200 subjects with age ranged from 25 to 60 years were selected and divided into 100 healthy persons as control group and 100 CKD patients as study group. Serum total cholesterol (TC) was evaluated by the Enzymatic, Liquid, Colorimetric test - CHOD/PAP method. Statistical analysis of data was done by unpaired student's t test. The results showed that serum total cholesterol the Mean±SE of control group male and study group male were 164±3.20mg/dl and 220±5.96mg/dl respectively. In study group male, mean±SE serum TC was increased. Result was statistically highly significant (p<0.0001). The Mean±SE serum TC of control group female and study group female were 158±3.13mg/dl and 213±5.49mg/dl respectively. In study group female, Mean±SE serum TC was increased & result was highly significant (p<0.0001). The mean serum total cholesterol level was increased in study group than in control group. The results were statistically significant. From this study, it may be concluded that the increasing frequency of Serum total cholesterol level in CKD may predispose the patients to hypercholesterolemia accelerates development of atherosclerosis, increases risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and the other complications.

It was reputedly the biggest infestation to hit Pakistan since the 1990s, destroying wheat, rice, sugarcane, cotton, and vegetable crops, and it was also the cause of the worst disaster of 2019–2020. We have extensively examined the external characteristics of this swarm using the mitochondrial Cytochrome C Oxidase subunit 1 (COI), morphometry of the solitary and gregarious phases, influenced host plants, as well as its deterrent status. Swarms of Desert Locusts, which have been on the rise recently, have had a substantial negative influence on Pakistan's agriculture, destroying all kinds of crops. Preliminary projections of the financial losses over the two agricultural seasons in 2020 and 2021 may vary from 3.4 billion US dollars to 10.21 billion US dollars. This drastically increased the price of ordinary products in the market. In a...

However, it is not clear whether this risk is linked with the intercurrent pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Thus, it is essential to identify markers and risk factors responsible for the pathogenesis of CVD and develop therapeutic strategies to decrease the cardiovascular health burden in affected women. Objective: The present study aims to evaluate the effect of GD on the future onset of CVD and assess the impact of type 2 diabetes mellitus in this context. Study Design: A cohort study was conducted in Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases Karachi Pakistan from June 2017 to June 2018. A total of 227 females who give birth to at least one kid were included in this study. Females with previous history of cardiovascular disorders and any other chronic disorders were excluded from this study. Using a biennial questionnaire behavioral, life style chara...

Specimens were collected and kept in jars in order to note their feeding behavior. In addition to this, survival rate of species on different host plants was observed. The survival rate of C. barbarus was observed as 4.11 ± 4.67 followed by C. biguttulus as 17 ± 4.38 on Cynodon dactylon, Paspalum notatum and Psidium guajava respectively. Furthermore, it was found that insects did not preferred Brassica oleracea var. capitata. The present study findings will be very helpful to future researchers concerned with rearing of C. barbarus and C. biguttulus

During present survey its two species i-e Iris oratoria (Linne, 1758) and Iris splendid (Uvarov 1922) was re-described. They are good predators and considering best tool in biological control. It was noticed that their population became increase during March to August. Beside this, their important, morphological characteristics along with illustration and photographs were also provided.

Among the hybrids, Seed yield (kg ha-1) was maximum in ICPA 2047 × ICPL 20126 (2635.36 kg ha-1). Out of 22 genotypes, seven hybrids were showed significantly high Seed yield (kg ha-1) over best check Asha (1636.30 kg ha-1) and general mean (2095.91 kg ha-1) both. The range of seed yield (kg ha-1) varies from 1381.99 kg ha-1 (Maruti) to 2635.36 kg ha-1 (ICPA 2047 × ICPL 20126).

During present study, the impact of major environmental factors on abrupt occurrence of Orthoptera species was examined. Orthopterans landed on vast agricultural fields of cotton, wheat, maize, sugarcane and other standing crops in fertile parts and sandy regions of district Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab, Pakistan. The survey on different localities of district Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab was conducted from January to December 2019, special attention was paid during rainy season. The total 4908 specimens of order Orthoptera, suborder Caelifera belonged to 8 species were collected from different localities of tehsils Sadiqabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanpur and Liaqatpur of district Rahim Yar Khan. The highest number of population, 2080 belonged to Schistocerca gregaria and lowest number of individuals belonged to Acrida exaltata were 135. However, other six species i.e., Peokilocerus pict...

A population upsurge hit Pakistan in 2019 and caused tremendous damage to agriculture and livelihoods. To take advantage of this ongoing upsurge, we conducted a field study to verify whether locust collection could be an interesting control method to protect crops in the event of an invasion, as well as an accepted food resource for poor rural communities. A village in the Thar desertic region was selected as a type-locality. An awareness campaign was launched to promote the collection and consumption of locusts as well as to alert people of their nutritional value. Two large swarms arrived near the village and several other swarms affected places nearby. Around 3033 kg of locusts were collected through handpicking at night. Most of the locusts were eaten and, as a result, hoppers of the next generation did not emerge in the type-locality; however, hopper bands appeared in areas where entomophagy was not practiced.
