Based on the theoretical model for the four-dimensional propagation model of tube laser beams, the influences of aero-optical effect, atmosphere turbulence and thermal blooming effect on the propagation characteristics of the tube laser are simulated and analyzed. The results show that the aero-optical effect contributes dominantly to the degradation of the tube laser under the conditions of high speed and high altitude and further brings about severe beam spreading and centroid shift. Owing to the low air density at high altitude and high heat exchange efficiency at high speed, the atmosphere turbulence and thermal blooming effect are extremely weak. This result implies that the areo-optical effect should be paid more attention for the realization of long-distance propagation of tube lasers on high altitude flights.

Sustainable infrastructure rating systems are still new and not as widely used as sustainable building rating systems, especially in developing countries. This study reviewed existing infrastructure rating systems and identified the major criteria used by these systems to explore the feasibility of developing a sustainable infrastructure rating system framework for East Timor. Interviews with professionals working in the construction industry in East Timor were conducted to understand the enablers and barriers to sustainable infrastructure rating systems in East Timor and highlight the potential of using these systems to satisfy the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Whereas economic benefit is a major criterion in implementing a sustainable infrastructure rating systems framework, the results indica...

A considerable portion of the waste generated by the construction industry has substantial residual value, and therefore waste management and sustainability principles and techniques should be applied. Buildings consume a lot of energy during the operations phase, but decisions made during design and construction impact building operations. This study reviews sustainable building practices to explore strategies that ensure minimal effects on economy, society, and the environment through efficient resource and waste management at different phases of a building life cycle. These practices include pollution reduction, reuse and recycling, energy consumption, embodied carbon, and water resource management.
