Deviant employees: is someone whose behavior falls far outside of organization norms. Constructive deviance: voluntary behavior that violates significant organizational norms and thus contributes to the wellbeing of an organization, its members, or both. Policy: a course or principle of action adopted or proposed by an organization or individual.

Unmeasured common latent factors were used to minimize the bias of common methods.Findings SCII, SCI and SCRE have significant positive relationships. About 41% of SCII and SCRE are partially mediated by SCI.Research limitations/implications Considering variations in perception of SCRE, the cross-sectional nature of the study limits generalizability and transferability. Experiments and interviews are recommended to explore differences between firms in SCRE.Practical implications SCII and SCI capabilities buffer a firm’s SCRE.Originality/value This study establishes SCI as a mediator between SCII and SCRE by studying manufacturing firms in a developing co...

The effects of deviant behaviors in the organization have economical, sociological, psychological, and anthropological implications. Positive deviance (constructive deviance) is a behavior that deviates from the norms of the reference group and has positive effects on the organization. It is an endogenous source of organizational creativity that has been shown to be powerful tool for learning and change. It is positive in terms of intention, effects, and conforms to hyper norms. It is not harmful to other employees or organization as a whole

Organizations use this information to improve their business operations, make strategic decisions, and gain a competitive edge. Good information is essential for effective operation and decision-making at all business levels. Management identifies and illustrates the different kinds of information by the complex internal and external communication links of different functions of an organization

Having no clear role, specialisation affects service timeliness and increases resource duplication among the relief organisations. The objective of this study is to understand how organisational networks and organisational learning as complex adaptive system metaphors improve both organisational adaptability and role clarity in humanitarian logistics. Design/methodology/approach Using ordinary partial least squares regression through SmartPLS version 3.3.3, the authors tested the study hypotheses basing on survey data collected from 315 respondents who were selected randomly to complete a self-administered questionnaire from 101 humanitarian organisations. Common method bias (CMB) associated with surveys was minimised by implementing both procedural and post statistics methods. Findings The results indicate...

Data were collected from CBO owner-managers. Mean, standard deviations, correlations and structural equation modeling were conducted to check the relationships among variables.FindingsResults show that both prior knowledge and novelty ecosystem are significantly associated with SEVC. Results further indicate that novelty ecosystem partially mediates the relationship between prior knowledge and SEVC.Research limitations/implicationsThe design was cross sectional in nature, thus limiting monitoring changes in knowledge and its effect on SEVC. The results should be interpreted as they are because there could be some endogeneity biases, which were not detected like measurement errors...

Three hundred eighty-two SMEs in Kampala, Uganda, were studied to explore the influence of the novelty ecosystem. The results show that novelty ecosystem mediates the relationship between personality traits, entrepreneurial networking and entrepreneurial ambidexterity. This suggests that novelty ecosystem is a conduit through which personality traits and entrepreneurial networking relate to entrepreneurial ambidexterity. Business owners/managers should, therefore, create an enabling environment for employees to interact, learn from others through constructive feedback and tolerate learning through slip-ups and putting in place flexible policies to allow creativity. In effect, business owners/managers should create environments that are conducive to opportunity exploration, tension and exploitation.
