The phytosociology is one of the important aspect for analyzing the structure and composition of vegetation and its dynamics. The quantitative study of vegetation is called Phytosociology or the special field of study of plant communities with respect to their components structure and classification forms the basis of division of ecology called phytosociology. The present paper focuses on the tree species diversity observed in tropical forest area of MNP district, Shivpuri, M.P., via survey conducted during 2010 to 2012. As a result, in all 65 species of the plants were recorded from MNP. A total of 65 species, 59 genera, belonging 41 families were estimated from the study area in which 33 are tree and 18 are shrubs. Leguiminaceae was the dominant family recorded under present investigation. Author observed 16 type plant community . That indicates the vegetation of forest is dry deciduous and...

(Zingiberaceae), commonly known as Kulanjan, Greater galangal, well known Ayurvedic herb and found throughout India. It is an Indian folkloric Ayurveda medicine primarily used as a medicine due to its anti-bronchitis, anti-inflammatory, intermittent fever, anti-cough, gastric disorder anti-bacterial, properties; The aim of present study was to gather information for the systematic identification and authentication of this particular species and pharmacognostic standardization of aerial part (leaves) and underground part (Rhizome) of this plant as per WHO guidelines. The result obtained in the present investigation might be useful in the drug industry for the identification, authentication & quality of the commercial samples supplied by suppliers. The present study may also be used for making monographs on this plant for different pharmacopoeias & official books.

This paper is based on the experiences of researchers conducting a community-based study for assessing the vitamin D status of children between 1–5 years. While multiple reasons emerged for non-participation during the first phase, strategic community friendly approaches to engage parents and community improved the participation rate to 62.7 percent in the second phase. There is a critical need to enhance efforts for community engagement in paediatric research.

A total of 21 curcumin derivatives were synthesized and detailed bio-evaluation was carried out including determination of static/cidality, synergy with front-line antituberculosis drugs and determination of efficacy in the murine model of M. tuberculosis infection. We identified CPMD-6d dihydrochloride exhibiting concentration-dependent bactericidal activity against M. tuberculosis (MIC 2 μg/ml), even against drug-resistant strains. In addition, it synergizes with front-line antituberculosis drugs as well as significantly reduces bacterial load in mice lungs and spleen at 25 mg/kg as compared with ethambutol at 100 mg/kg. Taken together, CPMD-6d dihydrochloride exhibits all properties to be positioned as a novel molecule of interest for treatment of tuberculosis. Graphical abstract: [Formula: see text].

To understand sexual practices and contraceptive use of people living with HIV (PLHIV) before and after being diagnosed with the infection and assess the providers' perspectives on provision of contraceptives to PLHIV, the quality of services provided and linkages between reproductive health and HIV services. A mix method design study using a purposive sampling was undertaken enrolling PLHIV from ART centers and PLHIV networks across three cities in India. Doctors and counselors providing HIV services at public hospitals were also interviewed. Use of condoms increased from 35% to 81% after being diagnosed with HIV. Consistent condom use was 69% compared to only 8.7% before being diagnosed with HIV. Nearly 41% (297) of participants indulged in one or more forms of risky sexual behaviors. Significant correlates of risky sexual practices were: participants who were midd...

Given the limitation of only condom use, the objective of this study was to improve use of dual contraceptive methods among HIV infected women. An experimental study among HIV positive women was conducted at two tertiary care level hospitals in Mumbai. Linking HIV with family planning services was the focus of intervention at one site and standard level of care was maintained at the control site. At each site, 150 HIV+ve women attending counselling and testing centres, who did not intend to get pregnant in the next one year and were eligible to use dual methods, were enrolled and followed up to one year. At the end of one year, 60 per cent women in the intervention group reached Family Planning centres compared to eight per cent in the control group. There was three times more acceptance and continuation of use of dual methods al...

Flowers of all these species are yellow, cup or bowl-shaped, complete, bisexual and pentamerous. These species exhibit diversity in number, size of stamens, mode of anther dehiscence, pollen production and pollen viability. There are two types of stamens (large and small) which dehisce either by a longitudinal slit or a sub-terminal pore. Pollen grains are tricolpate and tricolporate with reticulate exine.

The present study is the Maharashtra component of a large multicentric task force study on the cause of death by verbal autopsy conducted in five States of India. The data pertaining to deaths among reproductive age group women are presented along with the factors contributing to these deaths. House-to-house surveys of a representative population from rural and urban areas in six districts of Maharashtra were undertaken by probability of proportion to size (PPS) sampling. Information on death was obtained from the relatives of the deceased and cause of death was assigned using the standardized algorithm prepared. International Classification of Diseases - ICD- 10 was used to code the assigned cause of death. A total of 103 deaths in reproductive age group women were investigated, of which 7 (5.6%) were maternal while 96 (93.2%) were due to non maternal causes. Six out of seven materna...

Surprisingly, we found that AR(+) CA25 cells grew slower in the presence of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), whereas the growth of AR(-) CA25 cells was not affected by the hormone. DHT-mediated growth inhibition of CA25 cells was not attributable to an increase in apoptosis but rather to a morphological conversion consistent with terminal differentiation. Specifically, we found that DHT treatment of CA25 cells resulted in a striking change in cell architecture, localization of desmoplakin to cell-cell boundaries, and an increase in alpha 6p integrin levels, a newly described marker of cell differentiation. Although no androgen-dependent changes were observed in the transcript levels of the mitochondrial aspartate aminotransferase or c-Myc genes by ...

Watermarking can be fragile or non fragile depends upon the user's requirements. The main concern of digital watermarking is to prove ownership as well as protection of the embedded information. This paper gives brief overview of existing audio watermarking techniques, their applications and future prospects of digital watermarking.
