Hyperlipidemia means your blood has too many lipids (or fats), such as cholesterol and triglycerides. One type of hyperlipidemia, hypercholesterolemia, and means there’s too much LDL (bad) cholesterol in your blood. This condition increases fatty deposits in arteries and the risk of blockages. Reduction in dietary cholesterol levels produces regression of atherosclerosis and restores endothelium-dependent relaxation of extra cranial arteries toward normal in experimental animals. Susceptibility to vasoconstriction in response to activation of platelets and leukocytes is reduced or abolished by regression of atherosclerosis. Design and Place of Conduction: The research work was single blind placebo-controlled, conducted at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. Research Time: It was conducted from April 2018 to October 2018. Number of Patients and their Age: Seventy five already diagnosed primary and secondary hyperlipidemic patients...

The prevalence of this most common joint disease rises with increasing age and occurs in approximately 85% of people between 75 to 79 year of age. Simple analgesics are useful in patients with mild disease, although nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAID) are the main stay of therapy. Nimesulide is an NSAID that has demonstrated clinically significant anti inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activity in a variety of painful inflammatory conditions, including osteoarthritis. We compared nimesulide with placebo in groups of 30 patients each and were able to see a highly significant improvement in the parameters of pain at rest, pain on movement and tenderness while placebo group showed non significant improvement in all the symptoms in a study conducted for 90 days. Nimesulide was well tolerated with mild side-effects.

This study was conducted to compare hypolipidemic effects of Niacin and Indian date (Jujuba) in hyperlipidemic patients. Methods: Study was conducted from July 2015 to December 2015 at National Hospital Lahore-Pakistan. Sixty participants were enrolled of both gender male and female patients age range from 25 to 60 years. Consent was taken from all patients. They were divided in two groups. Group-I was advised to take 2 grams Niacin in divided doses for the period of two months. Group-II was advised to take 500 grams of fruit Jujube daily for the period of two months. All patients' systolic and diastolic blood pressure was noted. Their baseline LDL and HDL cholesterol was determined by conventional method of measuring Lipid Profile. Results: After two months therapy, their post treatment blood pressure and lipid profile was measured and mean values with ± SEM were analyzed biostatistically. Group-I which was on Niacin their blood pressure was reduced but it was non-significant change, LDL cholesterol decreased significantly and HDL cholesterol was increased significantly. In group-II patients LDL cholesterol was decreased significantly but HDL increase was not significant with p-value of >0.05. Conclusions: It was concluded from the research work that Niacin is potent in lowering LDL and increasing HDL cholesterol, while Jujube has significant effect as LDL cholesterol lowering potential, but it does not increase HDL cholesterol significantly. Jujubes and vitamin B-3 did not reduced blood pressure, when analyzed statistically.
