A range of possible scenarios for the future of the EU, as well as a discussion of the factors affecting current crises are at the forefront of the debate, which lead the reader to reflect upon often overlooked aspects of European integration , such as Germany's hegemonic role in the Union, or historical narratives and myths that need to be deconstructed and critically analysed. Contemporary populist movements also play a key role, as do the often difficult processes of migration and EU mobility, which reveal the tensions, fears, and lines of exclusion in contemporary European societies. Finally, the role of values-namely an adherence to human rights and responsibility over the global social order-which in the 1970s was a cornerstone of EU discursive action and identity building, serves as a lasting point of reflection on the uncertain future of the EU's axio-normative direction(s).

The elections brought about a positive phenomenon for democ racy, which is an increase in voter turnout. On the other hand, negative phenomena appeared, in particular the violent political polarization within the political community. The example of the Polish elections was then confronted with the perception of democracy among Polish society in a comparative approach, i.e. against the perception of other European nations. Against this background, the assessment of Polish democracy by Poles is exceptionally positive. Later in the article, an attempt was made to consider to what extent the integration processes may be responsible for weakening democracy in the Member States, as well as for the decline in trust in democratic institutions in the west and southern part of the continent.

Historically, universalism has been accompanied by a tendency towards economic and geopolitical expansion of the Western Europe great powers. The renaissance of European universalism took place along with the processes of European integration. A special condition for the revival of this universalism was, on the one hand, the strategy of left-wing intellectuals related to the rebuilding of political influence under the conditions of European integration. On the other hand, successive European crises provoked Eurosceptic moods, which prompted the pro-European elite to mobilize societies for the benefit of the European Union. The article discusses the latest version of European universalism, which was directed mainly inside the EU in order to counteract disintegration and to base the integration project more closely on European values.

Stolica i otaczające ją gminy to centrum innowacji w skali kraju, choć jednocześnie nastawione bardziej na imitację i adaptację zewnętrznych rozwiązań, aniżeli kreację oryginalnej innowacji.
