It investigated learners’ attitudes towards their English lessons after learning English through storytellingbased instruction. The participants were two classes of sixth-grade students, totaling60 students, selected by convenience sampling from seven intact classes atBancha-uat School in NakornSrithammarat province.The two classes selected were randomly assigned as experimental and control groups.The data were collected through the English Listening and Speaking Skill Achievement Test.The test was administered to both groups as the pretest and posttest. Following the pre-test, students in the experimental group were taught using the lesson plans of storytellingbased instruction for six weeks for a total of 18 sessions. Meanwhile, the control group was taught using traditional lesson plans that did not employ storytelling. At the end of each lesson the students in the experimental group were asked to write a learning log. After the experiment, their attitudes were explored through the Questionnaire on Students’ Attitudes. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results indicated that the English listening and speaking ability of the students was significantly higher than the control group at the .05 level. In addition, students’ attitudes towards English lessons after the experiment were highly positive.This study demonstrated the effectiveness of teaching English listening and speaking skills based on storytelling-based instruction.

The study employed the English listening test and the attitude questionnaire as the main researh instruments for data collection. The participants involved in the study were sixty first-year students enrolled in English for Everyday Use course at Rajamagala University of Technology Krungthep. Two classes were randomly assigned in the experimental group and learned English through movie clips; while the other class, the control group, learned English with conventional teaching methods. Topical structure analysis (TSA) has been taught to students as a revision strategy to raise their awareness of importance of textual coherence and helps them clearly understand its concept. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of TSA instruction in improving university students ’ writing quality and to explore the proportions of topical progression in essays written by high and low proficiency students. It also examined the opinions of the students on TSA instruction. The participants consisted of two groups of 20 third year students majoring English Education at Chiangrai Rajabhat University. Data were collected through the pretest and the posttest of essay writing, two selected essays of high and low proficiency students, a questionnaire and an interview.
