In this work we present the methodology that addresses the implementation of a continuous Pick- ling line of hydrochloric acid in a steel mill. The process known as Pickling is one of the steps in the steel industry which consists of chemical action that aims at removing oxidation that appears on the surface of the metal strip in cold rolling. The pickling process is necessary to improve the surface quality of the metal strip with the removal of the thin layer of oxide. The production line studied in this work uses in removing the oxide layer using hydrochloric acid as a chemical compound. In the steel mill in question this line deploy- ment aimed to upgrade its technological equipment and products, to obtain greater competitiveness in the marketing of metallic carbon steel coils.
