At the one end of the spectrum are the anti-RH groups, which are dominated by key leaders of the Catholic Church, and at the other end are the pro-RH advocates, mostly coming from
the women’s groups and civil society organizations.
Finding common grounds between church-mandated organizations and those who promote RH is important in discussing issues that affect the lives of people. The transcripts
of plenary debates in Congress and in the Supreme
Court attest to the many misconceptions on the medical and religious aspects of reproductive health, sexuality and women’s roles.
The religious sector is a major force for socio-cultural change and development. This study attempts to map out the structure, interventions, positions, and understanding of various congregations on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) concerns that would be helpful to C4RH in identifying challenges and opportunities in engaging them towards social change advocacy and development work.
