Lucy Cotter
Lucy Cotter is a writer, curator, artist and theorist, whose work explores the interplay of the aesthetic, the political and the unknown. She was curator of the Dutch pavilion, 57th Venice Biennale 2017 featuring Cinema Olanda with artist Wendelien van Oldenborgh and has organised or curated over 25 exhibitions and events at venues including Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, EYE Film Museum, Amsterdam and Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, Rotterdam. Her edited book Reclaiming Artistic Research was published by Hatje Cantz (2019), with a Spanish edition forthcoming with 17, Institute for Critical Studies, Mexico City. Alongside book chapters, experimental writing and catalogue essays, she publishes art criticism, theory and fiction in such journals as Flash Art, Mousse, Artforum and Third Text. Formerly director of the Master Artistic Research, Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (2010-2015), she currently lectures in Critical Theory at Portland State University and holds workshops internationally.
