Ante contextos de pobreza y dificultad en el acceso a alimentos han surgido en las últimas dos d... more Ante contextos de pobreza y dificultad en el acceso a alimentos han surgido en las últimas dos décadas circuitos locales de producción, distribución e intercambio de alimentos y semillas que fomentan el autoconsumo e intercambios de proximidad y son promovidos por actores sociales interesados en la vida comunitaria, campesina y el consumo local de alimentos. Mediante una combinación de análisis documental y técnicas cualitativas se investigaron entre 2016 y 2018 estos circuitos en los estados que conforman la península de Yucatán y en dos estados del centro el país (Puebla y Tlaxcala), con el fin de caracterizar sus similitudes y diferencias y analizar dinámicas sociales que dan lugar a procesos de resiliencia en los ámbitos socio-cultural, ambiental, económico, alimentario y organizativo. Ante la vulnerabilidad alimentaria y el avance del capital privado en el sector agroalimentario d... more Ante la vulnerabilidad alimentaria y el avance del capital privado en el sector agroalimentario distintos actores de la sociedad civil mexicana han venido construyendo iniciativas de producción, distribución y consumo local de alimentos en espacios urbanos y rurales. Mediante una metodología cualitativa este artículo identifica y caracteriza estas iniciativas en los estados de Quintana Roo y Yucatán, reconociendo sus actores, discursos y procesos de vinculación, resaltando la importancia de los intercambios materiales (alimentos y semillas) y simbólicos (discursos y conocimientos). El análisis de los resultados destaca la conformación de nodos alimentarios cuya pertinencia como experiencias sociales, habilita la conformación de alternativas alimentarias, económicas, ambientales, sociales y políticas a nivel local.

It was used to refer to local domestic markets that existed in Mesoamerica in ancient Mexico. This word has been taken up by some social actors who made different projects about local organic, agro-ecological, traditional food, self designated «local organics/alternative tianguis». This paper is an attempt to describe the organization systems of these tianguis as environmental-social innovations who born of the civil society in the context of the Mexican agro-food system. Objetivo: indagar la función que tiene actualmente la cocina tradicional como lugar de preparació... more Objetivo: indagar la función que tiene actualmente la cocina tradicional como lugar de preparación de alimentos en la reproducción cultural de Huay Max, comunidad Macehual de la denominada Zona Maya del Municipio de José María Morelos en el Estado de Quintana Roo. Metodología: a partir de un enfoque de estudio de caso descriptivo conjugado con la etnografía y teniendo como unidad de análisis a los grupos domésticos se emplearon entrevistas semiestructuradas y a profundidad en Maya, y observación participante. Resultados: los grupos domésticos extensos son la base de la organización de actividades productivas y alimentarias. En relación a los significados otorgados por hombres y mujeres a la alimentación y la cocina, estos están ligados al valor de estas prácticas, a las personas y al sentido de pertenencia al territorio que otorga identidad. Ante contextos de pobreza y dificultad en el acceso a alimentos han surgido en las últimas dos dé... more Ante contextos de pobreza y dificultad en el acceso a alimentos han surgido en las últimas dos décadas circuitos locales de producción, distribución e intercambio de alimentos y semillas que fomentan el autoconsumo e intercambios de proximidad y son promovidos por actores sociales interesados en la vida comunitaria, campesina y el consumo local de alimentos. Mediante una combinación de análisis documental y técnicas cualitativas se investigaron entre 2016 y 2018 estos circuitos en los estados que conforman la península de Yucatán y en dos estados del centro el país (Puebla y Tlaxcala), a fin de caracterizar sus similitudes y diferencias y analizar dinámicas sociales que dan lugar a procesos de resiliencia en los ámbitos socio-cultural, ambiental, económico, alimentario y organizativo. Ante la falta de una política pública que promueva la producción y el consumo local los circuitos cortos alimentarios no sólo fortalecen la producción y el consumo local de alimentos sino que adquieren un sentido político al promover acciones colectivas de defensa del patrimonio biológico y cultural que sientan precedentes a escala nacional y muestran vías de acción para otros colectivos de América Latina.

Resultados: los grupos domésticos extensos son la base de la organización de actividades productivas y alimentarias. En relación a los significados otorgados por hombres y mujeres a la alimentación y la cocina, estos están ligados al valor de estas prácticas, a las personas y al sentido de pertenencia al territorio que otorga identidad. Sin embargo, con la migración masculina, los programas de asistencia social y la poca productividad agrícola, se incorporan a la dieta productos no locales y alimentos industrializados que modifican la cocina y las prácticas culinarias e inclusive contribuyen a la disminución de la producción agrícola de autoabasto alimentario y, en consecuencia, al abandono de la milpa. Limitaciones: el machismo que todavía impera en la comunidad impidió trabajar con más grupos domésticos. Conclusiones: los significados otorgados a la cocina y a la alimentación son fundamentales para la resistencia y la reproducción cultural de los grupos domésticos macehuales.

Se usaba para referirse a los mercados internos locales realizados en Mesoamérica en la época de México antiguo. Actualmente en México está germinando un movimiento de tianguis y de mercados orgánicos locales, detonado por una diversidad de actores sociales, en la búsqueda de alternativas en la producción y el consumo local de alimentos. Este artículo pretende dar cuenta de los mecanismos organizativos que se desarrollan en los tianguis, como procesos de innovación socioambiental provenientes de la sociedad civil, en el marco del sistema alimentario mexicano. Este trabajo está estructurado en tres partes. La primera explica el marco teórico-metodológico en el que se realizó la investigación, así como el área geográfica a la que circunscribe; la segunda presenta las condiciones del surgimiento de los tianguis alternativos locales en México, su contexto y diversidad (orgánicos, agroecológicos, de agricultura familiar); y, finalmente, el tercer apartado, establece la reflexión sobre los mecanismos organizativos en los tianguis alternativos locales como procesos de innovación socioambiental. El estudio conduce a reflexionar sobre los tianguis (mercados) como espacios de innovación ambiental, con raíces históricas, que fungen como estrategias de trabajo autogestionado, autoconsumo y abastecimiento local de alimentos; asimismo, estos tianguis coadyuvan a establecer relaciones con el territorio bajo valores ambientales y éticos.

La generación y gestión del conocimiento es clave para búsqueda y la construcción de alternativas... more La generación y gestión del conocimiento es clave para búsqueda y la construcción de alternativas. Muchas de las iniciativas sociales que buscan transformar la realidad y construir otras formas de alimentarse, trabajar, habitar, educar, sembrar, vivir, etc. tienen en la creación, gestión y transmisión del conocimiento uno de los principales retos. Este estudio pretende dar cuenta de algunas experiencias de organizaciones y redes en la producción y gestión del conocimiento a fin de retroalimentar el modo de actuar de otras que buscan en la economía solidaria y la producción ecológica una opción para el desarrollo sostenible de sus propias comunidades.
La investigación, realizada entre abril de 2016 y mayo de 2017, se ha basado en las experiencias del sindicato y movimiento social agrario EHNE Bizkaia en el País Vasco, y del Grupo Vicente Guerrero en Tlaxcala (México), a quienes agradecemos enormemente su participación y lo compartido en este estudio. Las dos promueven la soberanía alimentaria en sus territorios, sobre la base del modelo de producción agroecológica, y persiguen la mejora y sostenibilidad de las condiciones de vida en el medio rural. Para ambas, el trabajo en red y la creación de alianzas con múltiples actores constituye un aspecto clave para avanzar en pos de la soberanía alimentaria y transformar sus territorios en el horizonte de la sostenibilidad.

En este sentido, podemos poner sobre la mesa a los tianguis alternativos como contrapropuestas al sistema que ha mercantilizado y de-socializado la redistribución de los alimentos, eliminando su fun- ción social y ha excluido a diversos actores inmersos en los procesos agroalimentarios locales, quienes buscan en los tianguis visibilización y reconocimiento, cobijados bajo valores de carácter ecológico, sociales, culturales y hasta políticos.
