MST. NAJNIN SULTANA (M’15 – YP’15- WIE’15) was born in Noakhali, Bangladesh in 1978. She received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Applied Physics and Electronics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2003 and 2005 correspondingly. Now she is doing Ph.D. at Electronic Engineering in Inha University, under Mobile Telecommunication Research Laboratory (MTRL), South Korea. From 2008 to 2012, she was a Research Assistant with UWB-ITRC Laboratory, Inha University. She is serving as an Assistant Professor (study leave) of the Computer Science and Engineering Department of Uttara University, Bangladesh from 2016. Since 2014, she has been an Assistant Professor with the Electronics and Telecommunication Department, Daffodil International University, Bangladesh. She is the author of one book, co-author of another book chapter, author of 8 articles. Mst. Sultana is also an Associate Member of SEEK. Her honors include the First Grade Comilla Board Scholarship (Bangladesh) to carry out the B.S. degree, the Scholarship from University of Dhaka (Bangladesh) for pursuing M.S. Degree, and Jungseok Memorial International Scholarship (South Korea) to pursue the Ph.D. degree, due to her excellent academic career.

The system is developed as speech recognition circuit where programmable voice is used as reference. Programmable means trained voice has been used for identification of authorized and unauthorized person. As software part, MATLAB GUI interface has been used to record authorized voice, and to synthesize the recorded voice with feature extraction such as power spectral density of peak frequency by FFT (Fast Fourier Transform). Then these features will be verified with every incoming voice. This voice activity detection (VAD) is designed and developed to divide the speech signal into speech segment and non-speech segments. As hardware part, ARDUINO microcontroller has been used to implement the circuitry for this well trained automatic security system. This system is with low cost and well-performed in less noisy environment. Accuracy has been obtained around 99%. This system can also be applicable for other controlled access services like voice based biometrics, database access services, voice based dialing, voice mail and remote access to the computers.

In this thesis we developed automated Taxation and VAT system through online. At first, we developed a website by which any Tax payer or VAT payer can access his/her all Tax and/or VAT information throughout the year by their TIN no.s. This website will be under NBR and Administration of VAT who will administrate, accumulate and maintain all information about Tax and VAT payment of all employed/ self-employed citizens. For this, we proposed interconnection between databases of all banks, financial organizations, small and large business and education organizations and all other kinds of organizations with database of NBR and Administration of VAT. This central database of NBR and Administration of VAT again connected with National Database which can be searched by National ID number. Any Tax and/VAT payer can check his/her financial report about gross income, total investments, total expenditure in anywhere such as shopping mall, children school, hospital etc. over a fiscal year through this specific website. For this they just use TIN no. As a result, any kind of irregularity of payment, hiding information about VAT or income or any kind of fake situation can be controlled by this automated smart system.

Then the feasibility of the adaptation of newly emerged technology 4G especially WiMAX has been studied. Most of the population of Bangladesh is live in country side and aging problem becomes prominent day by day. 85% lands are affected with flood in frequent years. Still now the communication system is also very poor in rural remote area. The survey and study show that most of the medical facilities are urban concentrated. By expanding WiMAX services with video conferencing helps people to contact with experts in a moment but mental satisfaction not so good. Also the cost for compatible mobile phone set is high and to operate it with lacking of IT knowledge also faces difficulties. So, we find a near Pharmacy and Mobile charging point solution which shows cost effective and better IT expert solution.

For purpose of saving cost the generation of wireless mobile communication evolved into LTE syste... more For purpose of saving cost the generation of wireless mobile communication evolved into LTE system by using MIMO-OFDM technology. But for the higher data rate it expenses higher energy. So, an efficient antenna management system is needed to be designed to save energy per bit transmission. In MIMO there are multiple RF channels for transmitting data which consumes much energy. In the case of LTE Release 10 which supports peak data rate of 1Gbps, it consumes more than that. For urban macro environment the energy cost is too high for higher data rate. So, an algorithm for adaptive selection of subset of antennas is designed to minimize the optimal transmitting power and to calculate the required minimum energy per bit for both two ended system and one ended system with continuous streaming of data. We employ MATLAB based simulation to verify the energy efficiency benefit of antenna management system. The result shows that the antenna management can achieve 25% one-end energy per bit reduction to the front end of MIMO network interface from static MIMO system which keeps all antenna actives.

JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) is one of the most popular compression standards in the field of still image compression. JPEG2000 is the new standard of JPEG. In this paper, studies of the effects of JPEG and JPEG2000 compression techniques have been made on different images for different compression ratios. The range of compression ratios is same for both the JPEG format and JPEG2000 format. The Maximum Absolute Error (MAE), Mean Square Error (MSE) and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) for both techniques have been thoroughly studied. It seems for higher compression ratio JPEG2000 format is more satisfactory and it gives comparatively very low MAE and MSE value and high PSNR value at that particular compression ratio.

Besides, it attempts to address the aging problem that has become more severe every day. At first, a survey is taken by visiting 8 regional (upazila) hospitals and 6 union community clinics in different districts of Bangladesh to observe the real implementation of m-Health system and potential scenarios for technologies. Both remote monitoring and interactive service modes of m-Health system are examined. In addition, the interviews with patients who have already received services through 2G m-Health system are taken to discover any practical lack and limitation of current infrastructures. Next, a modified health infrastructure is proposed to use 3G at the remote side and Optical Fiber at the backbone side with a wide range of services, e.g. video conferencing through VoIP and Skype, MMS diagnostic reports, drug prescriptions and mobile purchase, home delivery, etc. Analysis shows that 3G requires a less transmission time at 4s for the upload and transmission of a medical image. Besides, the visual quality of interactive video is also better than existing 2.7G-based m-Health service, which may then be used for monitoring vital signals such as ECG signal, heart rate, bone fracture, etc., in the future. Then, the feasibility test indicates that huge initial costs and the poor ICT culture of healthcare professionals have raised a barrier for a new ubiquitous m-Health system. A difficulty faced by villagers to handle high technology devices comfortably has also triggered a barrier for a smooth running of the system.

In addition to serving individuals, ISPs also serve large companies, providing a direct connection from the company's networks to the Internet. In this paper an elaborate description has been given about the ISP components and different connections related with Nationwide Internet and Data connectivity such as DSL (Digital Subscriber Line), Fiber optic, devices, technologies and bandwidth and implementation techniques. Optical fiber has been used as backbone of the entire network and the connections have been made to the end user levels using UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair), STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) cables. All the connections such as broadband (dedicated and shared line) and dial-up Internet connection, intranet have been made by hardwire (using CISCO device and technology). In this publication it has been assessed that the users have good performing and smooth Internet and/ or Intranet connections by using all these standards. And they have enjoyed high quality services from the ISP.

The open loop performance shows better result whereas due to complexity of trellis the performance degrades with feedback. But still with increasing the number of bits, the error rate performance improves again. In case of error rates, 3-bit feedback system has the lowest value. 2-bit feedback system needs lowest time for simulation and 1-bit feedback offers highest channel capacity.
