On March 31, 2023, in Iași, at the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University, a special event took place f... more On March 31, 2023, in Iași, at the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University, a special event took place for the archeologists’ community: The homage of the 80 years of life of Prof. Dr. Nicolae Ursulescu, distinguished professor of the Iasi University. The event benefited from the participation of an impressive number of former and current collaborators and friends. In Romanian historiography and not only, Professor Ursulescu is considered a pioneer in certain segments of archaeological research, having a broad humanistic view and an unlimited horizon on the science and understanding of life itself. He was and is received as a strong voice in the academic environment, his name being linked not only to the beginnings of archaeological research at the University of Suceava, but also to a number of important achievements in the field, which brought him a well-deserved national and international recognition.

The recovery of old lost information regarding the discoveries of bronze hoards on the territory ... more The recovery of old lost information regarding the discoveries of bronze hoards on the territory of the former historical province of Bucovina has a special importance. During the second half of the 19th century, there were found several bronze deposits which were "hidden" to the specialists' eyes, being only summarily published in Viennese magazines, or in unknown provincial publications. In the present study we submit for the first time to the attention of the searchers the hoard of Prisăcăreni (today on the territory of Ukraine). In 1885, the former Mayor of the town of Siret, Captain Josef von Gutter pointed out the discovery of a bronze hoard consisting in a bronze cauldron, containing a clay urn full of ash. The urn was surrounded all around by 12 bronze axes (celts). After analyzing these elements, we believe that the deposit can be ascribed to the Gáva-Holihrady culture (the Grăniceşti cultural group), characteristic of the Early Hallstatt in the northeastern C...

Les auteurs présentent quelques considérations préliminaires sur les pratiques funéraires dans la... more Les auteurs présentent quelques considérations préliminaires sur les pratiques funéraires dans la nécropole d'Adâncata-"Imaş" (dép. de Suceava). Les fouilles ont mis en évidence neuf tumuli, mais l'article concerne la recherche des tertres T1-T6. Le rite et le rituel funéraires ont des ressemblances, mais aussi des différences évidentes par rapport aux autres découvertes de Roumanie (Prăjeni), de Pologne (Komarów), d'Ukraine ou de la République de Moldavie. Abstract. The authors display in the present study a few considerations on the funerary practices incountered in the necropolis from Adâncata-"Imaş" (dep. of Suceava). The excavations have put into evidence nine tumuluses, but only the research done in the case of six of them are presented. This study brings up the archeological discoveries made in the ,,Horodiștea/Zamca/Beill's Brickya... more This study brings up the archeological discoveries made in the ,,Horodiștea/Zamca/Beill's Brickyard” site, located in the town of Siret, Suceava County. The author does a chronological evaluation of the discoveries, starting with the first archeological researches, which took place in the second half of the XIX century, coordinated by Josef von Gutter. Based on the information gathered, the author discusses the existence of an anthropic fortification, an idea which flourished in the collective memory, as well as in some scientific publications. The publications and documents from the XIX century tell us about interesting prehistorical, antiquity and medieval discoveries from the site, which, by summarization, offer a new, comprehensive image about the stratigraphy and the value of those archeological discoveries. In addition, we are presenting a few brief considerations about understanding the notion of ,,Horodiștea/Zamca/Beill's Brickyard” archeological site, which should be comprehended in all its complexity.
