This game is getting infuriating because I KEEP GETTING THE SAME TWO $3 ONES-I just want to finish the collection but I can't because all I'm getting is the ghost and plane... ;-;

if you view the game more as a puzzle game then it becomes easier, my tip is look at your collection and if an item says that it helps to complete a collection that means there is a more expensive item that you can get using it
