Growing energy demands are putting the non renewable energy sources at risk of extinction. One of the major energy consuming sector is automobiles, traffic in urban settlements. Now a days battery operated vehicles are on road for public and private transportation which are an alternative to conventional fuel vehicle systems of petrol, diesel, gas oil. But the issue of fuel or we can say charging the battery operated vehicles remains constant and a challenge for urban transportation systems. This paper is focused to design approach of such parking lots and road side parking slots which are not only space for vehicle parking but also charges the vehicle while it is parked. This kind of refueling system will use the idle time of the vehicle and will reduce the requirement of refueling stations. Such system will save the time of the car owner for waiting at refueling or charging station. The methodology of this approach consists of using the renewable sources of energy such as solar, wind energy and distributed energy generation systems so that such systems can be used in designing energy plus human settlements. The distributed energy generation system will reduce the need of major electric substations to handle the generated electricity..

Urban development adds to the economic growth of a nation, the national annual reports around the world indicates the increasing level of urbanization globally and urbanization requires energy in various forms. This paper is about such factors which collectively leads an urban settlement towards energy plus category. Energy plus is a concept in which an urban settlement is not only able to produce and return the amount of energy its consuming but is capable of generating clean energy more then its consumption using renewable sources of energy. This study is about factors such as conservation of energy, conservation of land, conservation of water, reduction in waste production and accessibility of resources. It is important to be assured that urbanization should not lead to lack of resources. This study will help the current model of urbanization to mark its independence from the non-renewable sources of energy as the depleting sources is generating a severe threat for the upcoming generation to live in an urban scenario.

Making the renewable sources of energy as basics of future human urban settlements is necessary. This paper is about the analysis of the concept of energy plus human settlements in terms of energy saving, energy efficiency and energy generation based on renewable sources of energy, to collectively achieve the category of energy plus human settlements. Such settlements which are capable of generating energy more then consumption in a specific time period from renewable energy sources. Is this paper it is described and discussed that how saving energy, using energy efficiently and energy generation capability contributes to an better futuristic urban settlement of energy plus category and it also explains the need of such settlements in future in the field of sustainable development.

It elaborates the net consumption of energy in each country in different forms and sectors. It will also elaborate their journey of making themselves energy efficient. This study explains that when did these countries started to produce energy from renewable sources and reduced their dependence on non-renewable sources of energy, how much of load is reduces on energy generated from oil, gas and other petroleum products to save them for better future and how much of wind, sun, water is converted into usable energy during their past years of major development. This analysis will bring an transparent picture of efforts made by these countries to facilitate their citizens with a cleaner environment for coming generations.
