Hana Naghawi
Dr. Hana Naghawi is the first female professor in Civil Engineering in Jordan. She joined the Department of Civil Engineering, the University of Jordan, as an Assistant Professor in 2010 and became a Full Professor in 2019. She received her BSc and MSc degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Jordan, Jordan, in 1994 and 1997 respectively and she received her PhD degree in civil engineering from the Louisiana State University, USA in 2010. Her research interests lie within the broad area of transportation engineering and planning, with a specific interest in traffic operation and traffic safety. In addition to her academic experience, Dr. Naghawi spent 7 years in industry working as highway and traffic engineer in the Royal Scientific Society, Greater Amman Municipality and Arabtech - Jardaneh Consulting Engineers & Architects, Amman, Jordan. She is a member of the Jordan Engineers Association, the Jordan Road Society, and the Institute of Transportation Engineers, Washington DC, USA.
Naghawi has also been awarded a number of scholarships and awards including Houston Helene M. Overly Memorial Scholarship Award in 2007, Deep South/ Institute of Transportation Engineers Award in 2009 and, the US Department of Homeland Security Scholarship in 2010.
