I enjoyed the hell out of this game years ago

Not sure I buy that the roof is okay, with that peeling ceiling. I guess a tub or toilet could be above it.

I finally got tired of not enough boxers and ordered some

I am not sure what happened to my underwear but it seems like the count is dwindling. Also a couple got worn out and had rips and I tossed them. Finally, I decided to order some online. One package got here a couple days ago (I misplaced it at first and just found it) and another is getting here on Friday of this week. Colors...

Sometimes I'll unfold a sheet and find a sock or underwear hiding inside. It might also end up behind the washer/dryer if you have them. If it was me, I'd assume I tossed ones with wear and forgot I did it. Lots of dull possible reasons for lost underwear.

[PSA] If things start feeling too toxic around here, remember that the 'block' button is your friend and always there for you.

I get it. There's some real jerks around here. Whether they're constantly argumentative, downright rude, always acting in bad faith, just plain trolls, overly opinionated on every subject, have the social skills of a Nausicaan, or whatever - the Fediverse is growing, and it's bound to attract toxicity in one way or another....

If it's uncomfortable maybe you could sew something over the metal?

They definitely need counseling to communicate better, but I genuinely hope they make it.

Don't fuck other people's cars. if it weren't for that, i'd have no issue with this guy.

They know it's trump's fault but they voted for him so they have to say biden was just as bad for the economy to justify their decision to themselves. That's my theory.

It's tough because it does sound like she is right - she's not ready for kids. Especially since it means she'd have to do the primary work of it, whatever that entails. She's got a lot of bitterness about seeing her female relatives give up everything and get treated like shit for it. She's not ready for marriage, either, honestly. She needs to be with someone who agrees that he should take on family responsibilities as well, and she needs to be mature enough to have that conversation.

So, she is the asshole. She shouldn't have married, but it's understandable since she was immature and in love. Lust? She should have been able to say "I will stay, but you also have to care for your siblings. You need to fill out paperwork and feed them and step up around the house. I know you expect things because of how you are raised, but this is not a situation either of us was prepared for." If she tried to have this conversation and he dismissed the idea immediately, he's an asshole too.

I don't think she should be around these kids if she'll be bitter about it. They have enough to deal with.

Honestly, her assholeness is just not being willing to push him to stay with him. Telling him what she needs without assuming he'd fail. He's mourning, so I have sympathy, but taking in two kids is work. He needs to be willing to do that work or figure things out. He has hired help and he still needs the wife position filled or he can't raise preteens who can mostly care for themselves?

Basically everyone sucks and I'm sympathetic to everyone, I guess. If she's right that people would applaud her husband for divorcing her in this situation, she's got reason to be bitter. She doesn't think any man will love her like she's expected to love him. I hate that she probably has seen evidence in her life that it's true.

Whoops I rambled on again. Sorry about that.

Honestly, this feels like a good end to like the series entirely. I wonder where it's going next? More epilogue, another arc, or is it done?

It feels like a large percentage of the punchlines of these old ones are just "they were cheating!"

But in the ruling against her by Germany’s federal court of justice in August 2024, the judges wrote, “The principle that typical, neutral professional activities of an ‘everyday’ nature are not criminal does not apply here since the defendant knew what the main perpetrators were doing and supported them doing it.”

"You should create a group when demand is there and not the other way around." In other words, start from generalist communities, and create more specialized ones when there is a need. Do you agree?

Back with newsgroups the general rule was to go from general to specific. You start with a general discussion group and when discussions about video games get annoying you create a games group. If then there are too many Baldur’s Gate discussions you create BG. If they are dominated by Baldur’s Gate 3 you create a Baldur’s...

This makes sense! I do think if someone is carrying enough love for Withers' tits that they think they can keep a community active for a while on their own, they should go for it, though.

The traditional art community was just one person posting most of the time for ages. They aren't doing that anymore, but that one person got it established enough that it still gets regular activity. Even if it hadn't worked that way, there's still a cool archive of artists I can go back through.

Concentrating on my breathing helps a lot, along with simple distractions.

The big help, though, was anti anxiety drugs. It was amazing, after being at war with my brain for most of my life. It was like - I'd have a bad thought, feel it in my gut, try a distraction, have it fail, have the thought again, on and on until i genuinely broke out or my emotions escalated to panic and it stopped in the post panic numbness.

With the medicine, the physical reaction petered out. I was able to use other methods like thinking "ok, so you fucked up then. you were a child. you deserved compassion from the adults around you" etc and was actually able to let go and move on.

Unfortunately, it's the kind of role that'll attract predators, even though I'm sure most of the people involved just want to do good. Like teaching and abusers and nurses and serial killing, etc.

He wants to do clinic once a week and once a week to play with his mom. He said that being able to play with her would be one of the main reasons for him to keep playing and that he had been disappointed she hadn't done it much.

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon/little boy blue and the man on the moon/When we playin squash, Mom?/I don't know when, but we'll get together then son/i know we'll have a good time then........

That'd be her final swerve into villainhood, lol. She's coming around realizing her mistakes and then BAM. I was rooting for you, workaholic mom!

Ask your community members, maybe?

I lean towards "go for it! block away" but I come from a different internet culture than reddit so could never mod anywhere similar. You might get better advice from someone who's spent more time in these spaces.

To me, It seems like chronic downvotes from nonmembers could mess up your comm's discovery. And is mildly annoying. Not terrible, but I don't think they need to be evil to get a community block. If you do it too much, your community might stagnate and people might start a new one. Oh well! Good luck to the new guys, imo. You might end up on PTB and get harassed. Always a risk as a mod, unfortunately.

Put "frequent exclusive downvotes from non-members gets a block to increase likelihood of community discovery by people interested in this content" on your profile. I mean, if you talk with your community members and they agree it's an issue.

In March, she and Chief Justice John Roberts joined the court’s three liberal justices in holding that Elon Musk’s nebulous cost-cutting initiative DOGE could not unilaterally freeze $2 billion in congressionally approved aid for work that had already been completed.

“She is evil, chosen solely because she checked identity politics boxes,” Cernovich wrote. “Another DEI hire. It always ends badly.”

Notably, Roberts was not accused of being a turncoat—just Coney Barrett.

Hmmmm wonder why. Man, she did her job and got roe v wade overturned, and they'll still outright call her "evil."

Sometimes I feel the need to comment on these but can't figure out how to word it. Damn! That's all I got.

Just read Slime Seijo thanks to @PrincessKadath@ani.social avatar PrincessKadath 's rec, and got a kick out of it. I gave it a shot because its concept reminded me of the ancient webcomic Unicorn Jelly. The initial idea with the evil torturing villainess didn't interest me, but I'm liking the silly background conspiracy and the mystery of the saint's powers.

I have to admit, people telling him men shouldn't wear tank tops on a post about a conservative teacher telling him to cover his tattoos is very funny. I wonder if they think they're super different than that teacher.

There's a limit to how carefully you can word things to protect its meaning from people determined to read it in bad faith. I have it too - the desire to be long winded to preemptively protect myself from misunderstanding. But there's a risk that we'll turn everything we say into long blocks of soft useless mush. There's no precision precise enough to be safe.

We have to, I think, decide to write for people willing to reach for us when we hold out a hand. There are enough willing to try that any general misunderstandings can be clarified with conversations other people can read if they want to understand. If enough of us are willing to do this for each other, it might be possible to build spaces where people who slap that outheld hand away don't have to dictate conversation. And maybe we can both be less wordy.

Probably the first step is to do your best and wait to see if your feelings even out after a couple weeks. Distractions are key (videogames? binge watching shows?), since this isn't a long term thing. If you're sure you're past that period, I can think of a few general suggestions.

The first is to get a doctor who's willing to carefully test other meds with you. There's this day group at the hospital near me, and when a friend was struggling to find meds that worked, the group was useful because they had medication specialists. when the friend tried out ones that could have bad side effects, he was being watched very closely to make sure he was safe. But attentive, diligent healthcare would solve a lot of problems, wouldn't it? I get not everyone can have that. There might be a med out there that doesn't fuck you up in other ways, though.

Vigorous exercise helps some people. Art's a big one for others. Talk therapy, group therapy - being willing and able to experiment to find what works is a big one.

It's really tough to give specific advice, since the cause can be so personal. I know a trans guy who is way less angry on T. That's not useful universal advice, but it shows how your answer might be individual and need digging to find.

I can't afford a new computer right now and tariffs meaning higher prices means I can't anticipate affording one in the near future. My plan is to see where everything's at when they stop doing updates. Unfortunately.

celeste ,

I'm somewhat open to the idea, but the thought of messing up and not having any computer other than my phone until i figure it out is tough to get over.

celeste ,

Is this something that's relatively fool proof to do? I'm very good at imagining disasters. That's the big mental block I got when I thought about dual booting before.

celeste ,

That sounds pretty cool, actually, that it.s protected against me breaking it. I've always got that worry

Thank you! The wall in my brain keeping me from doing it is a bit smaller now

I mentioned the ones i'd seen, but when i looked up the director to doublecheck i spent a long time reading the summary of space dandy like "should i finally watch this one...???"

I thought about watching it years ago, but never got around to it. Maybe now is the time, since I could use something silly to watch

I do feel an odd guilt for not moisturizing, like I'm failing at some womanly responsibility. I feel like me and the op are in the same boat - dealing with some uncomfortable residue of misogyny we're struggling to wash off.

But her routine still sounds reasonable, and she enjoys it, and I slap on sunscreen for my health, and continue to not put on my despised moisturizer, so we're both just doing our human best about it.

According to the secretariat, emails threatening the life of Yoshida, a member of the Japanese Communist Party, were sent at roughly one-minute intervals between 8:00 p.m. on Friday and 3:50 p.m. on Monday. All were sent from the same email address.

One huge creep?

We made pretty the eggs we would've boiled and eaten anyway. The week after easter we'd be all 'dad, you ate the one i wanted to eat!!' because we decorated it the prettiest so it was ours. It was incredibly rare the eggs didn't get eaten. We also had hollowed out eggshells my grandmother painted that we'd put in a place of honor every year.

Polish! I never really thought about why she did it. That's really neat! I'll have to ask dad if that's what inspired her to make them. We inherited them, and had a little stand, but she had a whole elaborate display I wish I could remember clearly.

I dislike orange soda despite liking lots of other orange flavored things (there's some background flavor that gets more apparent as i go through a can, making me sick to my stomach) and the other day we got some by accident so I tried it to see if i still disliked it (yep).

To not waste the can, I added some grenadine and whiskey, and the combo overpowered what i disliked about the soda. Good times.

Yeah I figured it would taste close enough to the classics that I'd like it

Caroline Herschel's story resonates with me for some reason.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caroline_Herschel

Something about how little was expected or desired of her, but she kept plugging at things and learning, and excelled. She was short and scarred and disabled but damn she found some cool stuff. There are periods in her life when she was just like "i don't want to be here or do this" but she just kept making the best of it.
