These concerns were initially introduced in the production of the work “Sopro” (“Blow”), started in 2015, which is an interactive work powered by the audience participation through the strength of a wind blow on a pinwheel. This work is based on the use of a simple technological system, seeking the poetic dimension of the act of blowing and primary scientific principles. Upon the development of this work, the group sought the possibility of creating a series of works focused on con...

Abstract: If gender and sexuality are social constructions, it is very important that the devices through which they are produced are well understood and reorganized. In this paper we will pay attention to how art as research of science and technology interferes in this picture. We will discuss some artistic practices having in mind the open source culture and concepts such as Donna Haraway's Chthulucene, Michel Callon's Actor-Network Theory and modern rhetoric that political resistance deconstructs.

We start the discussion through musicology and how it was affected by gender studies, from feminist perspectives to post-colonialism, transfeminism, Queer Theory, matters of intersectionality, etc. . We annalyse life and work of pioneer women in electronic music and also discuss carioca funk and noise as forms of activism. In order to further discuss artistic activism, we pay attention to the production of artists who work with technoscience as a platform, dialoguing with some of the queer activist community’s agenda. When talking about technoscience, we come up with concepts proposed by the sociology of science and contemporary philosophy, and comment life and work of pioneer scientists. We will also discuss some of the open source culture precepts, which were spread from telematic computer technologies to practices such as circuit bending and art as scientific research. To acknowledge our production as a form of open source practice, we detail along the last chapter some of the projects developed during our master’s degree research hoping they can be assembled by other people.
