It unified and placed Hungarian marriage law on a new basis. During the First World War, the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy was dissolved, and the peace treaties redrew the borders of the countries in the region. This elementary reorganisation also affected the basic personal and economic relations in society. The Treaty of Trianon also created chaos on the field of marriage law. Within the new national borders, it led to major interpersonal and inter-territorial conflicts over the applicable law between territories. This study examines the impact of Hungarian marriage law on the development of the law in the surrounding countries.

Conclusively the depth of analysis of the models has been given in different eras. The addition of the previous, retrospective bibliographic research methods could contribute to answer to several questions. The use of the foreign publications heavily depends on the person and its language skills, sometimes to the detriment of academic requirements. The use of the earlier opinion has become the norm, especially in the Hungarian language processing. The French and German language is losing ground compared with their previous significant role. In comparison, the significant use of the English language began rather late, in the early 1990s and led to its present-day absolute primacy in less than two decades, which raises many questions.

The relevant scientific publications about this topic can be systemised by following the chronology of historical science. Only scientific works were inspected, the variety of different publications and newspaper articles were left out form this summary. In the next two years following the Second World War the scientific discourse about administrative jurisdiction continued, however, the subject of the discussion was not supported by the new emerging power structure. The scientific discourse started slowly again after the judicialcontrol was legally adopted into the legal system under the time of socialism. However, significant fluctuation could be observed after 1989. In the new millennium the number of scientific works increased further, more than ever before. This “rapid-publication” effect generated the phenomenon that only a smaller number of (preferred) works has become basic reference.
