We tested a model that included satisfaction with various life domains, overall life satisfaction, cumulative college GPA, and ratings on an assessment center exercise. Results indicated that overall life satisfaction was a significant predictor of both GPA and assessment center ratings, even with traditional academic achievement predictors controlled (e.g., cognitive aptitude, gender). We discuss implications of the results for future research and educational practice

Yet, despite a deep interest in employee compensation systems, management scholars have rarely considered the implications of relative income for workers. To address this oversight, we consider how the conformity values of dual‐income couples jointly predict relative income and how this relationship varies by gender. Further, we examine how relative income predicts employees' subjective career success and explore potential boundary conditions to this relationship. Using a time‐lagged study in a sample of 225 dyads, results from moderated polynomial regression analyses indicate that dyadic congruence in conformity values predicts relative income in a gender‐dependent way. Additionally, moderated multilevel regression analyses illustrate that r...

Many process improvement methodologies exist to increase an organization's operational efficiency and effectiveness. Among these methods, lean thinking deserves attention because its emphasis aligns well with academic libraries' mission—to create value as defined by customers. This article describes lean thinking's philosophy, methods, and tools applicable to academic libraries. We develop a swim lane process map of Kansas State University Libraries' eResources management workflow to demonstrate how lean thinking can be used to identify non-value-adding activities. We also analyze a standard budgetary report to identify digital waste as seen in non-value-adding data from acquisitions activities.

Utilizing hierarchical linear modeling in a sample of 582 students distributed across 135 class project teams, we find positive, direct effects for achievement on citizenship behaviors directed toward individuals (OCB-I), for benevolence on citizenship behaviors directed toward the group (OCB-O), and for self-direction on both OCB-I and OCB-O. Applying relational demography techniques to test for contextual effects, we find that group mean power scores negatively moderate the relationship between individual power and OCB-I, while group mean self-direction scores positively moderate the relationship between self-direction and both OCB-I and OCB-O.

The promise of MSCs as a therapeutic modality has been demonstrated by preclinical data yet has not translated to consistent, successful clinical trial results in humans. Despite the disparities across the field, MSC shareholders are unified under one common goal—to use MSCs as a therapeutic modality to improve the quality of life for those suffering from a malady in which the standard of care is suboptimal or no longer effective. Currently, there is no Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved MSC therapy on the market in the United States although several MSC products have been granted regulatory approval in other countries. In this review, we intend to identify hurdles that are impeding therapeutic progress and discuss strategies that may ...
