Suffragatio[1] est ratio qua grex, sicut conventus vel electoratus, decreta communia facit vel opinionem edit, plerumque post disputationes, disceptationes, vel expeditiones comitiales. Democratiae magistratus suffragatione eligunt. Incolae loci a magistratu electo repraesentati constituentes appellantur, et constituentes qui suffragium ferunt suffragatores appellantur.

Suffragia variis rationibus colliguntur, sed, quamquam multae rationes in decernendo adhibitae etiam in rationibus suffragatoriis adhiberi possunt, solum rationes quae repraesentationem proportionalem efficiunt in comitiis adhiberi possunt.

In minoribus organizationibus, suffragatio variis modis fieri potest, publice per suffragium ad alios in (exempli gratia) officina, ad socios societatum politicarum, vel ad personas aliis daturas eligendas. Suffragatio autem privata consensus dictus, gestus sicut manus sublata, vel adeo assensus per interrete transmissus fieri potest .

In democratiis, homines rectionem suffragatione in comitiis eligunt, unum vel plures inter candidatos creantes.[2] In democratia repraesentativa, suffragatio est ratio qua suffragatores suos vicarios ad rectionem designant et qua vicarii electi decreta faciunt. In democractia recta, suffragatio est ratio qua suffragatores decreta recte faciunt legesque sanciunt.
