Privacy Notice

Information We Collect

The Office of Legislative Counsel has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for this Web site.

We automatically collect limited information from visitors to our Web site in order to help diagnose problems with our server, and to identify ways in which we can improve the content and usefulness of the Web site. That information, which does not identify users by name, is collected through the use of "cookies," which are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, although you can usually change your browser to prevent that.

Section 11015.5 of the Government Code prohibits any state agency, including the Office of Legislative Counsel, from distributing or selling any electronically collected personal information about users to any third party without prior written permission from the user, with certain limited exceptions. The Office of Legislative Counsel does not sell any "electronically collected personal information," and this information will be discarded at the request of the user.  The information collected by the Office of Legislative Counsel is subject to the limitations set forth in the Information Practices Act of 1977, and is exempt from mandatory disclosure for public inspection and copying under the Public Records Act.

If we change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page.

By using our Web site, you consent to the conditions set forth in this Privacy Notice, including, but not limited to, the collection and use by the Office of Legislative Counsel of the information described above.
