Well I only have 1-2 beers a day. 3-4 on Saturday and Sunday. Unless I have a really bad day, or a really good day, then add 1-2 more. Is that more than 8? My thinking ain’t what it used to be.

It seems the authors made an effort to avoid confounding factors despite it being an observational study:

    • adjusting for factors that could affect brain health such as age at death, smoking and physical activity,
    • Separate non-drinkers and formerly heavy drinkers, who had stopped or reduced their drinking

Also the article point out the study itself shows a correlation but isn’t enough to prove a cause-effect relationship.

Still, there’s plenty of well-established links between alcohol and health problems. That’s another data point and reason for caution around alcohol use.
