There’s absolutely no reason to say shit like that when there’s been 0 occurrences or evidence of that happening, other than to spread FUD
cm0002toArmed Democrats@midwest.social•Fascists are only powerful if they are obeyed.171·4 hours agoIt’s pretty regularly beat into you that you support the constitution and routinely goes over that you can and should disobey illegal orders and trains on how to identify illegal orders in boot camp and beyond on a regular basis
Sorry for the misunderstanding, this was a crosspost, I didn’t generate it. But image searching shows a few matches elsewhere, so I doubt who I crossposted it from generated it either
thing to draw is being delegated to Ai (corporations).
But, not all AI is corporate run, there’s plenty of AI models to choose from that are open source including image generation models
And actually, image generation models are much easier to run on “affordable” consumer hardware than LLMs
cm0002to News•Touching Paper Receipts for 10 Seconds Results in Unsafe Exposure to Highly Toxic BPS: Watchdog.9·9 hours agoThe problem is with receipts on thermal paper, not those printed with normal ink, so many receipts are not an issue any more.
Um, you’ve got it backwards, most receipts are now thermally printed. The ink printed receipts are the “outdated” ones.
Well which one is this one? (This was a crosspost so I don’t know lmao)

cm0002OPto memes•They thought they actually had a way to make people pay attention by sprinkling questions and answers everywhere LOL101·12 hours agoTo clarify, I’m not talking about actual job training, I’m talking about random HR courses that could be summarized as “Don’t be a shithead” that you have to take all the time that nobody ever pays attention to.

cm0002to Ask Lemmy•Does anyone here actually use (or know someone that use) flip-able/foldable smartphones?10·1 day agoI have a Pixel Pro 9 fold and the original Pixel Fold before it. Frankly, for me, it’s like going multi-monitor for the first time. I can’t go back.
It fills all my tablet use cases while also being a tablet that I actually have on me whenever I need it. I’ve had so many tablets over the years, in all manner of sizes. They all collected dust in a matter of a couple weeks because I would always forget them or forget to charge it or it just wasn’t near me when I wanted it.
My biggest use case is remoting into desktops on the go, a boon for WFH though it isn’t perfect because I have yet to find an remote desktop app that fully takes advantage of the split screen functionality.
Though it’s not Samsung with their fancy productivity focused features, I still find having 1 app on each side to be very useful, especially when I’m on a Lemmy posting binge LMAO
I also play [email protected] and [email protected] from time to time and I love the extra space
Movies and shows are a meh, the aspect ratios are…weird and you don’t gain as much size as you think because of the resulting black bars. But I’ve never been one to watch TV and movies on my phone like that, except on a plane
lemmy is still their baby.
And they openly choose to give it away so anyone could use it how they see fit. And indeed, if they kept lemmy.ml truly unbiased as the “Flagship” they position it to be and ran a separate instance that didnt use that status to push harmful propaganda and misinformation, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.
Instances would have defeded from it like the rest of the triad and moved on. It’s the fact that they use this position to basically bully other instances to staying federated with them, so that they can continue spreading their crap, that drives what I do.
you are still completely and entirely playing the game on their terms. why would you not prefer to use a whole other social media platform at this point?
if i can find stuff on different lemmy using the same account and comment there as well, for many purposes it’s the same website.
You do not have an understanding of how the Lemmy-verse or even Fediverse at large operates, what you said is fundamentally untrue and is the opposite of the entire point of the underlying ActivityPub protocol.
There is no “one platform” or “one website” the entire reason ActivityPub came to be was so that social media would be decentralized for once. I could jump to another platform as you say, there are a few Lemmy alternatives like PieFed. However, because everything is federated, the Tankie problem is still there, still causing damage and still threatening the overall health.
Besides, it’s not 2021 anymore, the number of instances on the Lemmy-verse far outweigh the tankie-aligned instances (in fact, I can’t think of a single one outside the Tankie Triad), they’re just a very loud minority. Unfortunately, the very loud part is what’s the most damaging.
I can’t tell you for sure, I don’t actually work in data recovery I just learned a lot about it because of…dumb decisions lmfao
But from what I’ve gleaned, they generally don’t seek it out, but their tools will show them previews n such so that they can keep on eye on if things are coming through corrupted or not
if you’re so unhappy with the creators of this entire platform, why are you here at all?
Lemmy is an open source link aggregator type social media server software, there is nothing political about it or its code. Individual instances of it and how they are run are what can be politically good/bad/neutral. You don’t see me with a .ml account. Nor will I ever give them money directly, I’ll just donate money to individual instances to their running costs.
started posting about dota in the largest dota group i could find, only to find out later that you’ve been reposting my stuff?
you can read my comment history and decide if i’m a tankie i guess, but i doubt you’re willing to do that since you clearly started reposting my threads without doing that.
First, cross-posting is a built-in core feature of Lemmy, second I don’t cross-post on a user basis, as a small part of my boycotting efforts of the .ml instance admins behavior, I cross post from a .ml comm to the closest relevant non-.ml comm. I get a notification of a new post on a .ml comm and I cross-post it away, I don’t do user profile scrubs before doing so, I already know who the “major players” are.
you’re a super user, growing their website for them. but you hate them, and are still fully enabling their objective by your actions. but you hate them.
I’m growing other instances, this is the Lemmy-verse, there is no “one website” to grow. And as far as growing instances go, I don’t contribute anything to their instance. By contributing to other instances, it will hopefully drown out the toxicity of what they want to use their instance for and maybe someday make it an easier decision for admins to defederate.
Why on earth do they think you’re a genocidal racist?
Lol that’s just what they do when they’ve come to the conclusion that the “debate” isnt going in their favor, you call them out on their crap or become of a particular thorn in their side. I’ve been called everything from a paid CIA shill to a Nazi to even right-wing/conservative (they think they’re the only true leftists and everyone else are fake leftists that are actually right-wing if you don’t support Russia or the CCP)
which is likely, why try and bully off someone with so much use to the platform?
They don’t care, they’d rather see Lemmy growth with users of tankie ideology or no growth at all. They’re generally often the ones telling other users who theyve deemed to be non-Tankies to “Go back to Reddit”
I consider them to be an ongoing threat to the overall healthy of the Lemmy-verse at large
[email protected] is always a good stop if you want to see more
cm0002OPtoAnimal behavior@mander.xyz•Ants are the only animals besides humans that perform life-saving surgeries1·2 days agoLike I said in a technical sense, yes. But in a philosophical way are we really if we can pick and choose which species we want to make extinct?
Whenever the topic comes up on eradicating mosquitos once and for all, it’s never centered on if we can but if we should. We have so much control of our environment and animals, we can decide which ones flourish and which ones go extinct, we can destroy all life on this planet in a day. We don’t have total control, but what we do have…is quite a lot. To me that means we’ve transcended beyond imo
cm0002OPtoAnimal behavior@mander.xyz•Ants are the only animals besides humans that perform life-saving surgeries1·2 days agoignores the fact that humans can be extremely animalistic at times, especially individually.
I mean that’s true, but when that does happen, they’re called out on it using “being an animal” in a derogatory form, as in “We’re better than that, you’ve stooped to the level of animals with your actions”

I’ll be 70 when they’ll turn 18.
To put it bluntly, yes. This is a terrible mistake. The chances of you just dying before they even turn 18 is much higher than if you had been say 32 or even 40. Even if you don’t die what if you have the Alzheimers ticking time bomb? You might be alive but struggling to remember even your eldest
Parenting isn’t just about getting from 0-18, it’s also about watching them grow beyond that and lead their own lives. With a bit of luck, you’ll be somewhat ok cognitively till 75/80 and if you take care of yourself physically decently mobile but that gets you to, them being 23/28
On the plus side, you’re probably completely financially stable at this point so… there’s that
