Student affairs professionals undergird the student experience from admission to graduation and must be prepared to address the new needs of enrolled students. The researchers used paticipatory action research methods to collect and analyze narrative data. The following themes emerged from the study: 1) The Value of Professional Development , 2) Importance of Inter-departmental Relationships, 3) Relevance of Shared Vision and Goals, 4) Enhancement of the Student Experience through Impassioned Action, and 5) Leadership Growth through Informed Reflection.

This qualitative study sought to understand student beliefs and perceived confidence levels in a primarily online professional doctoral degree in education. Before accessing course material and formal instruction, respondents assigned scores to a Likert-style survey and answered open-ended questions about their understanding of basic educational research methodology. This report addresses the issue of teacher retention through the lens of administrative effectiveness and involvement, as well as teachers’ intrinsic motivations. Relevant findings include structural framing of the educational environment, student behaviors, school district demands for improvement, and teacher perspectives on administrative support. The report iterates that teacher retention does not have a one-size-fits-all solution, and that each school division and individual school must work purposefully to devise plans to retain its most effective teachers.

Cognitive apprenticeship serves as the theoretical framework for this study, offering an instructional paradigm of situated learning activities to teach knowledge and skills through guided tasks, culminating in diminished dependence on faculty as cognitive skills develop. The study returned three emergent themes reflecting students’ experiences in developing a scholarly voice, 1) the importance of feedback to writing growth, 2) the nature of writing as an iterative process, and 3) establishing publication as a motivation to improve writing. Implications for faculty and programs suggest that students benefit from feedback in a variety of settings, and that collaborative writing, as path to publishing, contributes to scholarly voice development early in a docto...
