Libraries break Digital Lending Records in 2024 with Over 739 million Checkouts. Librarians and educators achieved remarkable new milestones in 2024 by providing increasingly robust digital lending and streaming options to satisfy library patrons of all ages. Using OverDrive's award-winning Libby and Sora apps, readers worldwide borrowed over 739 million ebooks, audiobooks, and digital magazines, a 17% increase over 2023. Streaming video through libraries and universities on Kanopy also reached a record 27.8 million plays. A record 192 library systems, consortia, and school libraries reached over one million digital checkouts, with Los Angeles Public Library topping the list. Over 30 library systems and consortia surpassed one million digital checkouts for the first time in 2024, earning them a spot in Libby's Million Checkout Club. 2024 marked additional significant milestones for the Libby app and the streaming app Kanopy. Systematic re-wins valuable contract for Denmark's library system. Systematic has just signed an important, three-digit DKK million contract with the Danish municipalities' joint IT organisation KOMBIT to continue the development and operation of the IT system for all public and school libraries in Denmark until 2038. Supplying Denmark's national library system since 2015 has opened doors to new international markets for Systematic with its Cicero library system. The contract expires at the end of 2025, and KOMBIT's choice of supplier for the Common Library System 2.0 has been eagerly awaited by the software company. Systematic was awarded the contract shortly before New Year, and will now develop and implement the libraries' new IT solution as well as handling operations and further development in the coming years. The contract, signed with KOMBIT on behalf of Denmark's 's municipalities, has an estimated value of DKK 220 million, or about $30 million USD. [Full Announcement].

SirsiDynix acquired by Harris Computing. SirsiDynix, has been acquired by Harris Computing, one of six operating companies of Constellation Software, Inc, a publicly traded company based in Toronto. It purchased SirsiDynix from ICV Partners, a private equity firm that has owned it since February 2015. Unlike private equity firms, Constellation does not sell the companies it acquires. It follows a strategy of acquiring businesses from founders or investors and holding them indefinitely. The acquisition marks a definitive exit from ongoing cycles of private equity investment into a permanent position within a public company specializing in the administration of technology-focused businesses. SirsiDynix has seen two rounds of private equity ownership, including Vista Equity Partners (2006-2015) and ICV Partners (2015-2024). As part of Harris, SirsiDynix gains access to additional technical and financial resources. Harris has deep experience in acquiring and strengthening technology companies.
