Anne LaFond
Anne LaFond is a global health research, monitoring and evaluation specialist with significant experience in mixed methods implementation research, M&E systems strategic planning, and the strategic use of evidence for improving public health outcomes. She brings creative and insightful thinking to leading and supporting teams and is committed to advancing the impact of investment in health in low-income settings. She currently leads a strategy, technical assistance, evaluation and research group that focuses on innovation in public health measurement and program design and implementation. She is collaborating on or leading several efforts focused on integration and measurement of human centered design (HCD) in global health.
Based in the Washington DC area, Anne has published work on health system sustainability, human centered design (HCD) in global health; capacity building in the health sector, immunization programs, and qualitative methods. She has worked directly in Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania, Ghana, Nepal, Pakistan, Viet Nam, Haiti, Namibia, Jamaica, Guyana, India Palestine and Uganda. Anne was the Senior Advisor for Research, Monitoring and Evaluation in the Innovations for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Initiative and led a comparative case study on the role of human centered design (HCD) in MNCH programming, developing the first influence pathway analysis of HCD. Anne served on the Board of Advisors for USAID and BMGF’s Design for Health community of practice, collaborated on the MeasureD Manual and Lab to guide investment in HCD and HCD measurement, and teaches M&E approaches to designers at the School for Visual Art’s MFA in Design for Social Innovation.
