In each of the piers there are 4 groups of 16 wire ropes each, giving a total of 64 wires per pier and a grand total of 384 for the 6 ...

It is the case of General Rafael Urdaneta Bridge (PGRU), over Maracaibo Lake in Venezuela, which in a short period of time, after its construction, began to show clear signs of early degradation, in all the structure. In this work we try to show the evaluation, diagnosis and rehabilitation of the structure, based on different research activities, in both laboratory and field, which allow to define better rehabilitation techniques and/or corrosion control in order to extend the service life.
