Thanks, Iwan Novirion. My main aim here is within the scope of speed-skating on ice related articles and my home wikipedia-project is User:Migrant on Norwegian wikipedia bokmål. Regards Migrant (talk) 19:10, 19 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Okay, Thank you, Snow Blizzard. As you probably noticed I will mostly do add-ons and correcting some double-items from different Wp-languages, that I know the language from. Regards Migrant (talk) 01:55, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

It is now a gadget, you should remove it from your common.js and re-enable it via your preferences. Regards, --Ricordisamoa 05:52, 27 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Okay, thanks, now it's removed. :-) Regards Migrant (talk) 23:04, 29 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Merging items

edit

Hallo Migrant,

If you were not already using it, you may want to check out the merge.js gadget for merging items. It has an option "Request deletion for extra items on RfD" to automatically nominate the page you are merging from for deletion. This way of nominating also makes it easier for the admins to process such requests. For support and other options you can check the help page about merging.

no -> nb?

edit

Hi! Noticed, that we have some items with [no] labels, which as far as I understand should be moved to [nb] language code, right? Or there is a bot, that does this regularly? --Edgars2007 (talk) 05:34, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

I guess the one you'd like to talk to about that is User talk:Danmichaelo or his userbot, User talk:DanmicholoBot. Since I don't run bots, but only ask of help to do runs by them once in a while, but that seldom happens I'm asking for runs. BTW. Thanks for notifying. Can you move your arguments to Wikidata:Requests for comment/Findagrave removed as a source for information so that others can see your thoughts  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk • contribs) at 19. jun. 2017 kl. 07:08 (UTC).

Hi. I made this edit because constraint status (P2316) should not be used on items, but only in Property namespaces. But I don't know which other property can be used in this case, maybe a "Type of profile", but I can't find anything similar. --β16 - (talk) 09:07, 28 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but I don't understand your language, but I tried to look into this problem and it seems that has something to do with the way the infobox-template grabs and show the wikidata- references ? I just reverted your edits since I found it weird that anyone just removed the references. Best regards Migrant (talk) 15:36, 7 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Reverted repurposing of Q18149418

edit

Hi! I wanted to let you know that I had to revert the changes you made to Chynna Rogers (Q18149418). This item originally referred to a person, but the corresponding Wikipedia article was changed into a disambiguation page because someone thought that person was insufficiently notable. (They now have an article under a different title.) Wikipedias are free to reuse titles for different topics, but Wikidata should not follow that practice because Wikidata item ids are intended to be permanent identifiers. Cheers, Bovlb (talk) 17:07, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

That's okay but what about the disambiguation-page at the english wikipedia then ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chynna ) ? Best regards Migrant (talk) 20:59, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
en:Chynna can get its own item. Please feel free so go ahead and create it. I did not do so because I could not find any corresponding page in another language to link it to. Bovlb (talk) 21:25, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
The reason for my edits in this case was because of the then two profiles were listed at two different deaths of two different people, so I was only trying to correct that. I took the easy way out of number of edits. So what do you think of connecting the english disambiguation-page and the english wiktionary-page which is linked in a box at the english wikipedia-article page. Best regards Migrant (talk) 10:19, 14 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Re Chynna Rogers (Q18149418), yes the situation was complicated by an anon user adding unrelated death information.
Re en:Chynna, I don't do much linking to Wiktionary, but that sounds reasonable. Cheers, Bovlb (talk) 20:15, 15 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ektefelle

edit

Hi, I write about https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q11984125&oldid=prev&diff=1478428564 I am pretty convinced that she was a member of Ullensaker Cykleklub, but we need a beginning and a end date. Otherwise, she appears as member of this club in all start list and ranking on wikipedia... Psemdel (talk) 14:55, 16 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for commenting on this here, before going into an unwanted edit-war. In Norway it is common to be club-member/team-member of 2 teams at the same time if they are a professional team and an amateur team and Ullensaker Cykleklub is an amateur team. And she can also be a member of different teams if they have different sports she competes in. I am not writing much about cyclists but I do a lot of writing on speed skaters and speed skating, which is also on of her sports. About beginning and end date I can only read that out from and latest start date and earliest end date. Since you are more into cycling related stuff than I am... so maybe you can tell me or find out what the last letters of the team Hitec Products UCK, meaning UCK, what are they standing for ? Is that actually Ullensaker Cykleklub ? Cos the deal in particpating in national championships in Norway are that they are a member of an amateur club and thereby also respecting and abiding by the rules of the sports national governing body. I just sent her a request of these information through facebook messenger chat. My brother have a huge list of friends within the norwegian speed skating community, which I'm using a lot during my wikipedia-work for confirmation and help to find good sources. Best regards Migrant (talk) 16:12, 16 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I see. It is true that professionnal cyclists can keep their original amateur club in parallel. Normally, it is not so important for the encyclopedia, but why not. I will have to change the code to cover this case. Sorry for the editing-"war", I did not check in the history, I just saw that the start list was wrong "again". Psemdel (talk) 06:06, 17 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I can now confirm that the letters UCK i the teamname Hitec Products UCK really are short for the amateur-club Ullensaker Cykleklub, after having a short Facebook Messenger chat with her. There she told me she was in fact a national championship-medalist in 5 sports; speed skating, cycling, athletics (marathon), triathlon and duathlon (cycling and running), and her personal best in an Ironman are 9 hours 50 minutes and 9 seconds which she did in Ironman Copenhagen 2013. Call for participation in a task-based online experiment

edit

Dear Migrant,

I hope you are doing well,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King's College London, and I am working on a project as part of my PhD research, in which I have developed a personalised recommender model that suggests Wikidata items for the editors based on their past edits. I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our model based on your previous edits. Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published to a research venue.

The study should take no more than 15 minutes.

If you agree to participate in this study, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSees9WzFXR0Vl3mHLkZCaByeFHRrBy51kBca53euq9nt3XWog/viewform?usp=sf_link

Then, I will contact you with the link to start the study.

For more information about the study, please read this post: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Kholoudsaa In case you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me through my mentioned email.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.
