Hello Miraclepine (nice username you picked btw). Looking at the dates, there seems something miraclous happende there. entry in Alumni Oxonienses: the Members of the University of Oxford, 1715-1886Would you be able as to adapt this? I came across an image of which I am pretty sure that is the guy and I would like to have the file added to the item. Thank you so much for your time. Lotje (talk) 14:10, 13 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Lotje: I don't think the image should be added to the AO item since the two are not directly associated unlike the image is to the subject of the AO item (which already has an image anyway). Maybe an item can be made for the image since it's part of the British Museum's collection. And as for the username comment, thank you very much! ミラP@Miraclepine 15:27, 13 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Miraclepine I added the file to the relevant category at commons. Cheers. Lotje (talk) 15:41, 13 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Lotje: That does make the most sense. Thanks! ミラP@Miraclepine 15:45, 13 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation of ASA Fellows

edit

Hi Mirac,

items like Daniel Weiner (Q119725996) are very sparse – how should I distinguish this scientist from the other Daniel Weiners already at Wikidata?-- U. M. Owen (talk) 16:05, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

@U. M. Owen: Add as much information to the item as possible to clarify what makes that person different from others with the same name; improving the description afterwards helps since only one item at a time can have the same label-description combo. ミラP@Miraclepine 16:39, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Søren (Glud) Johansen

edit

Hello Miraclepine,

I'd like to discuss the merge of Q1658913 and Q102240063.

Soren Glud Johansen's (Q102240063) is affiliated with Department of Operations Research in Aarhus University, as is archived on the Internet Archive here: Wayback Machine (archive.org). His main interest is operations research.

Soren Johansen (Q1658913) is mostly affiliated with University of Copenhagen, as is visible in the archived CV Wayback Machine (archive.org). He shortly stayed in Aarhus University, but with the CREATES center. His main interest is econometrics.

The publication list of these two scientists are disjunct: Publications (archive.org) versus Søren Johansen's Home Page (archive.org).

My conclusion is that these two researcher are different, despite quite similar interests.

What do you think?

(PKalnai (talk) 11:12, 16 September 2023 (UTC))Reply

@PKalnai: None of the publications listed appear in both lists, and if you look at the archived pages ([1] in particular) Q102240063 had been at Aarhus years before Q1658913 arrived. Keep 'em separate. ミラP@Miraclepine 14:37, 16 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Parallel items

edit

Hi Mirac,

I'm an old Wikipedian but a new Wikidatan: Why have Q110960618 and A. R. Frank Wazzan (Q124254746) have to be duplicated?

Kind regards; -- Schleckbrausefüllung (talk) 17:31, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Schleckbrausefüllung: I had to spinoff the newer item because the older one was a redirect incorrectly reused for a different item, due to concerns with off-wiki conflation; see Wikidata:Project_chat/Archive/2023/05#Do_wikidata_allow_reusing_redirected_items?. The older items are at a dedicated RFD discussion and will therefore be deleted per the procedure noted in the Project chat discussion. ミラP@Miraclepine 17:57, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
