Cycling
editHi Renamerr. I see you add translations about items of cycling in Ukrainian. If you are interested, we have a list of items we use on Wikidata:WikiProject Cycling/Kit to translate and on Wikidata:WikiProject Cycling/Kit to translate/Jerseys. Items are all differents even if the difference is sometimes small. With these translations, it is easy to understand our datas in Ukrainian. How many batches and edits do you have left?
editYou're running 350+ edits a minute (6/second). Im wondering how many do you have left? Artix Kreiger (talk) 15:43, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, please slow down. 350 edits per minute is absolutely abnormal. — regards, Revi 16:00, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, I blocked you for 24 hours to stop you editing too quickly. Please respect the server, by editing slowly. Thank you. — regards, Revi 16:05, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

- Hi. I acknowledge this message. 3/second are ok? Thanks. --Renamerr (talk) 16:41, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, I'll unblock you, but I believe you should edit a lot slower than that. I asked Wikimedia Foundation Database staff to step in and give their opinion on acceptable speed. Thanks. — regards, Revi 16:48, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
- As a general note, 6 per minute is the guideline, and you should never edit faster than one edit per 5 second. — regards, Revi 05:32, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi. This is impossible when I use QuickStatements. Minimum speed of this tool is 100 edits per minute. I have planned more than 1 million semi-automated edits (for insects only). What should I do? Thank you. Best regards. --Renamerr (talk) 12:22, 21 March 2018 (UTC) P.S. I read it. --Renamerr (talk) 15:25, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

Please slow down
editHi, can you please slow down editing? You are causing noticeable dispatch lag. I'm aware that this is probably an issue with quickstatements, but for now, please make sure you slow down or stop editing. Cheers, Hoo man (talk) 19:06, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
- I needed to block you for now… please stop quickstatements. Cheers, Hoo man (talk) 19:40, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
- Please slow down. --Titodutta (talk) 20:08, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- I had to block you again, given the current dispatch lag and the fact that you were editing at maybe 70 edits per minute. That is way to fast. Cheers, Hoo man (talk) 14:30, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
- You're editing way to fast again and we have about half an hour of dispatch lag. Please slow down! Cheers, Hoo man (talk) 13:51, 28 April 2018 (UTC)

- Could you please consider using a bot to make changes? --Titodutta (talk) 21:21, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, Titodutta. Now there is enough QuickStatements to solve my tasks. Thank you. --Renamerr (talk) 05:58, 3 May 2018 (UTC)

Reasonator "translations"
editHi, you replaced many of the English translations in Reasonator with some other language, despite a clear warning that you are editing English, which you had to acknowledge.
I have changed your translations to "uk" (assuming that's the language you used) and restored the previous English labels, but please be more careful and actually read the warning that the tool shows. --Magnus Manske (talk) 07:45, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

Nickispeaki (talk) 19:38, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
--Renamerr (talk) 07:35, 21 July 2018 (UTC) P.S. --Renamerr (talk) 08:08, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
Nickispeaki (talk) 09:57, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
Category:Kyiv. --Renamerr (talk) 12:11, 21 July 2018 (UTC)

Descriptions for items
editHello Renamerr,
I add as you do it with QuickStatements descriptions to items. I looked in the list of the Wikiprojects and I saw that there is the Wikidata:WikiProject_Labels_and_descriptions. Are you interested in participating in this project and sharing lists with the items where you add descriptions or the querys. At my user page I created sub pages pages with queries for specific items without descriptions in German. I think it would reduce double work and could help people who want to parcipate. If you know how it works, it doesnt need long to download the result as a CSV adding the general description and put it into QuickStatements. That needs maybe one minute I think. At a project page there could be added a list with the description for something in different languages and the irregular forms. For example in German the countrienames are not regular. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 20:11, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

editThe query service is currently behind. It would help not to run multiple batches of QuickStatements on your account. Could you pause all batches for a few hours to give the query service some time to catch up? Thanks! Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 14:04, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

Anyone for Everyone
Good morning,
How has it been collaboratively contributing to Wikipedia and its sister projects?
I would really appreciate your views on the Anyone for Everyone program.
Anyone for Everyone is a campaign to encourage and guide internet users to contribute more to Wikimedia projects. The campaign aims to encourage 19 actions/activities that anyone could do on Wikimedia projects (Commons, Wikidata, Wikibooks etc.) for the benefit of everyone. Can you help expand the list by adding bullet points?
Thanks for weaving the lines and letters that make information neutrally open to the world.
Cross-wiki vandalism from 117.225.66.202 (I think this IP must be blocked globally)
editHi! I'm writing you because I don't know anyone who is an administrator here in Wikidata, but I've noticed that someone using the IP adress 117.225.66.202 did a lot of cross-wiki vandalisms, erasing, for example, the links to the page "List of Presidents of Senegal" (Q845245) (I've restablished some of them) and also to the page "Lista de presidentes da Moldávia (Q312271)" (I've also riestablished some of the links). He reverted some articles in multiple Wikipedias to old versions. As I'm an administrator in Ido Wikipedia, I've blocked him/her there, but I think that this person must be blocked globally. Otherwise he may start vandalizing other articles.

Hi! I've noticed that some time ago you added the Ukrainian label to this property. Could you please modify it to reflect the fact that this is only for people? There is now another e-teatr.pl property for plays (Encyklopedia Teatru Polskiego play ID (P6679)) and I'd like to avoid confusion between the two. Thank you for your help! We sent you an e-mail
editHello Renamerr,
Really sorry for the inconvenience. This is a gentle note to request that you check your email. We sent you a message titled "The Community Insights survey is coming!". If you have questions, email surveys@wikimedia.org.

Thank you for your work in maintaining Wikidata. I have a small suggestion to improve your future work. If you notice that two items are duplicates, please merge them instead of blanking one of them as you did with the item Q34438088. External sites use Wikidata identifiers, so it is important that we preserve the chain of references. We do this by making one item a redirect for the other. In particular, item ids are intended to be a permanent identifier, so we never reuse them for another concept. See Help:Merge for more information on how to merge items, and consider installing the Merge Gadget. Thanks! Bovlb (talk) 04:57, 16 November 2022 (UTC) --Bovlb (talk) 04:57, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

editHello.
Can you add the newly created category cdo:分類:Azerbaijan in Min Dong Wikipedia to the Wikidata page of "Category:Azerbaijan" (Q5609682)? That page is protected and that is why I cannot add it.
Yours sincerely, 31.200.16.201 18:09, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Why don't you look into a bot account?
editI see you have a tremendous number of description changes. However, these all fill recent changes and makes it hard to see problematic edits. Could you maybe think about getting a bot account with a bot flag for these renames? RPI2026F1 (talk) 14:10, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- I also came here because you're constantly flooding recent changes. Please stop your QuickStatements batches, make a bot account for them, and request a bot flag for the account at Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot. - Nikki (talk) 07:06, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Nikki: Hi, I have already stopped adding my new QuickStatements packages. --Renamerr (talk) 08:18, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- That won't help because to my knowledge QuickStatements cannot or does not use the bot flag. Research Bot is also flooding RecentChanges with it even though i know for a fact that is a bot with a proper bot flag. RPI2026F1 (talk) 11:46, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- What I recommend is making a bot account with a bot flag, then using https://github.com/maxlath/wikibase-cli/blob/main/docs/read_operations.md#wb-sparql and https://github.com/maxlath/wikibase-cli/blob/main/docs/write_operations.md#batch-mode along with making a ToolForge account. That way edit batches don't have to be run with only 10k items at a time, I've used wikibase-cli to edit 55k descriptions at once. RPI2026F1 (talk) 11:54, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @RPI2026F1: Does your recommendation work in the background (asynchronous) batch mode like QuickStatements does? --Renamerr (talk) 14:05, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
- If you run it on Toolforge it does, but you need some UNIX knowledge. RPI2026F1 (talk) 18:08, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
- @RPI2026F1: My UNIX skills are very close to zero, except for my almost forgotten experience with some commands of the old MS DOS:). At the same time, the need for asynchronous batch mode is critical for me, because I edit from Ukraine in conditions of frequent air alarms and much more frequent power outages, which are caused by war and missile attacks on the territory of Ukraine by rashist Russia.
- But I want to try your recommendation with your help if you don't mind. I will try not to ask too simple questions. Can you walk me through the process of running a my first test asynchronous batch? --RenmBot (talk) 14:18, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
- Did you make a request for Toolforge access? I highly recommend using your main account. Follow the instructions here. More specifically, follow this to ask for access. When signing up for access, link back to this section. RPI2026F1 (talk) 15:08, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
- You can run bot accounts on Toolforge but you sign in using your primary account. Since you can execute any amount of code, you can run multiple unique bots from the same main account. RPI2026F1 (talk) 15:17, 30 December 2022 (UTC)

- @RPI2026F1: Just yesterday I tried step 1 ("1. Create a Wikimedia developer account."). As a result, the page with selected "Linked accounts" shows three sections for me (RenmBot is my bot):
- - "Wikimedia developer account" (Username: RenmBot; UNIX shell username: xxxxx);

- I'm saying to use the main account because now there's a mismatch between the "Phabricator account" and the other accounts. Oh well if it's already done there's nothing you can do. In that submit your request. RPI2026F1 (talk) 20:52, 30 December 2022 (UTC)

- - "Wikimedia account" (Username: Renamerr; + button "Refresh OAuth credentials");
- - "Phabricator account" (Username: Renamerr; + button "Refresh Phabricator data").

- You're going to have to make a new tool. Give it the same name as your bot. Once you make the tool, wait an hour or two, and then ssh into the Toolforge machine. Once you're in, run
become <name>
. After that, run these commands:.webservice --backend=kubernetes node16 shell echo prefix=~/.local > ~/.npmrc echo 'export PATH=~/.local/bin/:$PATH' > .profile npm install -g wikibase-cli
- From here,
exit
, and then runbecome <name>
again. Now, runvim ~/.config/wikibase-cli/config.json
, hit enter, and then paste this in (making modifications as necessary):.{ "instance": "https://www.wikidata.org", "credentials": { "https://www.wikidata.org": { "username": "<your bot's username>", "password": "<your bot's password>" } }, "bot": true, "lang": "en" }

- The easiest way is to make a textfile of item QIDs, one per line and nothing else. Then, open a tmux session (just type
tmux
) and then run this command:cat <filename>.txt | tr -d '\r' | while read id; do echo $id <lang> "<new description>"; done | wd set-description --batch --no-exit-on-error -s '<summary>' 2>&1 | pv -l -s $(wc -l <filename>.txt | awk '{print $1}') > /dev/null
. Once it starts running you can doCtrl
+B
and thenD
to detach from the session. You can alwaystmux attach
to come back to it. RPI2026F1 (talk) 17:20, 8 January 2023 (UTC)

- @RPI2026F1: Hello. Please help me once again with writing long line that starts with commands
cat <filename>.txt | tr -d '\r' | while read id ...
, but for a different case, when the file contains lines with different descriptions of items. Previously, I developed scripts/programs to generate QuickStatements commands that change/set item descriptions. As you know, the format of these lines is as follows: Q4115189 TAB Duk TAB "new description of item" Thank you. --Renamerr (talk) 11:14, 21 February 2023 (UTC)- If you make each line in the file of the form
<id> <lang> "<description>"
(those quotes are required), you can directly skip the while step and just docat <filename>.txt | tr -d '\r' | wd set-description --batch --no-exit-on-error -s '<summary>' 2>&1 | pv -l -s $(wc -l <filename>.txt | awk '{print $1}') > /dev/null
. RPI2026F1 (talk) 13:09, 21 February 2023 (UTC)- It's similar to a quickstatement line but you use spaces instead of tabs and you drop the "D" prefix for the lang code. RPI2026F1 (talk) 13:11, 21 February 2023 (UTC)

- Specifically, the file labeled file03 comprises 10 lines featuring the format Q93501803 uk "наукова стаття".
- Upon initiating the tmux command, dialogue follows:
- tools.renbot@tools-sgebastion-10:~$ cat file03 | tr -d '\r' | wd set-description --batch --no-exit-on-error -s 'translation from Dutch' 2>&1 | pv -l -s $(wc -l file03 | awk '{print $1}') > /dev/null

- However, the contribution of user RenmBot does not change. What could be the reason? Thank you. Sincerely, --Renamerr (talk) 09:30, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

Bonjour Renamerr
editBonjour Renamerr,
Hello, Renamerr
I have been working for years on a very specialised bibliography.
For some time now, I have been seeing the items I have created undergo changes, one of which is particularly important for my bibliography. The nature of the item is systematically changed and the qualifier "version, edition or translation" disappears without further discussion.
Would you please stop those change ? Thanks a lot.
I have complained about this several times in the bistro. I would be obliged if you could come and discuss this on the bistro with the administrators.
If there is a reason for this change, the m:bibliography on Wikiversity should also be changed, after discussion with the Wikiversity administrators. Ambre Troizat (talk) 18:52, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- Dear @Ambre Troizat:,
- I am sorry to hear that you are facing some problems. I am saddened by this news and would be happy to assist you in resolving these issues. It would be greatly appreciated if you could provide links to any changes made by me or my bot that could be problematic. I am currently unable to locate these possible problematic edits, so I would appreciate your help in this matter.
- Sincerely, --Renamerr (talk) 20:30, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- It's allright. If we can collaborate.
I will appreciate your good help. Ambre Troizat (talk) 21:08, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

Adding non-constructive descriptions with your bot
editThese edits don't look ok. You should revert or improve them. Multichill (talk) 16:47, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- I stopped this bot task. I wonder why the filter considers these edits "possible non-constructive description"? --Renamerr (talk) 19:03, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- Because these descriptions are non-constructive. Multichill (talk) 20:33, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- The filter says that this is possibly non-constructive description. He is not sure and you are sure. Why? --Renamerr (talk) 23:34, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
- The filter is just a filter created by User:Matěj Suchánek that tags things a human should review. I'm human and I know that "(1684-1744)" is not a good description. Multichill (talk) 18:40, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
- Looks like this filter is described here. It reacts to descriptions without alphabetical characters and is described by the regular expression '^[\W\d]+$'. --Renamerr (talk) 22:40, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

Help define a label
editHello do you know how to define the label for Solha (Q12220231) https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q12220231#sitelinks-wikipedia . Thank you JMGuyon (talk) 12:40, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

Franzekafka (talk) 14:58, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Franzekafka (talk) 15:36, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
З повагою --Renamerr (talk) 17:00, 23 January 2024 (UTC) P.S. --Renamerr (talk) 17:44, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
- Quarry для отримання узагальненої інформації про описи елементів Вікіданих (фрагмент такої інформації я навів у списку вище) і отримання списків елементів, описи/назви яких подібні/збігаються з заданими рядками;
- Wikidata Query Service для детального аналізу списків елементів і підготовки команд для QuickStatements;
- QuickStatements для пакетного редагування описів Вікіданих;
--Renamerr (talk) 12:14, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
--Renamerr (talk) 14:49, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Description for John Service (Q100921615)
editHi Renamerr, I just merged John Service (Q100921616) into John Service (Q100921615). Now the Ukrainian description is not accurate anymore, maybe you can take care of this? Thank you, Dorades (talk) 18:50, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Dorades, I updated the Ukrainian description and label. --Renamerr (talk) 22:58, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi there :) How sure are You about Ukrainian description of this mouse? There was some joke in English desc, i think. regards, Piastu (talk) 13:55, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there! :) Thanks for reaching out. Regarding the Ukrainian description of the mouse, I'm not entirely sure if it's a joke. There's an element, "nomen utique rejiciendum" Q15149791, which is described as a "suppressed name; may not be used for any taxon". Interestingly, there are over 1800 items in Wikidata with the English description "name that may not be used", so it might not be a joke after all. Best regards, --Renamerr (talk) 09:21, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- Good point, i'll have to look closer at that. But P31 says it is Q16521, some kind of taxon, not name of taxon – so i think description should include some suggestion, it's a taxon :) regards, Piastu (talk) 09:51, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
