Ahmed Fadda
Prof. Dr. Ahmed A. Fadda was born in Cairo, Egypt. He received his B.Sc. 1971 from Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Egypt and M.Sc. 1975 from Faculty of Science, Mansoura University, Mansoura, Egypt. He obtained his Ph.D. in organic synthesis 1981 from Moscow State University, Faculty of Chemistry, USSR, (Ph. D. thesis advisor and topic: Prof. A.N. Kost, "Isomerizaition and recyclization of pyridinium salts to 2-amino biphenyl"). He obtained the degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) From Faculty of Science, Mansoura University, 2015, He got the Mansoura University Discretionary Award in Basic Science (2014). In 1981, he joined the Staff of the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, Mansoura University, Egypt. He became Associate Professor at that University in 1986 and was promoted to Professor of organic chemistry in 1991 until now. From 2003-2010, he was the Chairman of the organic chemistry division. He was a visitor professor to North Carolina State University (NCSU) working with Prof. Harold Freeman and Associate Prof. Ahmed El-Shafie in the area of porphyrins, phthalocyanine dyes, photodynamic therapy and photosensitizers. He was also visitor professor at SMU and worked with Professor Edward Biehl. He worked as Professor of organic chemistry at the University of USTHB, Algeria from 1986-1990. He is a member of the Egyptian Chemical Society and the New York Academy of Sciences. In 1994, he nominated by American Biographic Institute (ABI) as one of five hundred leaders of influence (3rd Edition). He is the Chairman for The Permanent Scientific Committee of Organic Chemistry (Associate Professor and Professors Careers 1991-present), He is a reviewer for Prizes for Outstanding Research, Ain-Shams University, Cairo University, Tanta University and Assuit University (2004, 2006-present), and many M.Sc. and Ph.D. thesis. He is a reviewer also for large number of international journals and reviewer for the Academic Scientific Research project's and state awards. He is the principle investigator (PI) of the Egyptian-American joint project. His main research interests are in the field of organic synthesis of heterocyclic compounds of pharmaceutical interest, medicinal chemistry and synthesis of new porphyrins derivatives. He has over than 190 international publications.
