Participation of Wikivoyage

[edit]

@Fantasticfears: I would like to organise Asian Month on (Esperanto) Wikivoyage. I consider, that as it is a geographically themed event, organising it in on the travel guide project makes full sense. Please let me know if you do not agree, otherwise I am going to join. --KuboF Hromoslav (talk) 09:14, 25 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@KuboF Hromoslav: It's a great idea. We are working on sample pages. I'll let you know.--Fantasticfears (talk) 19:20, 26 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for being late. We are still trying to join into the contest. Please Consider Us. Malayalam wikipeida. --Ranjithsiji (talk) 02:05, 1 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Commons monthy challenge

[edit]

Maybe you can inform that the November 2017 challenges on commons are:

We don't get a lot pictures from Asia usually, so if uploaded pictures are also part of your target, please inform them.--Alexmar983 (talk) 06:57, 3 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Alexmar983: it’s an interesting idea and thanks for the input. I’ve noted your suggestion. However, we are still a small team and the event still needs improvements on various aspects, especially a better tool. Given more events, we will be more confident in organizing and have a better tool to help local organizers. By all means, photo campaigns sound quite interesting and can somehow be integrated in the event as well.—Fantasticfears (talk) 09:48, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia Asian Month 2017 in Sinhala Wikipedia

[edit]

In Sinhala Wikipedia Asian Month 2017, the sole organizer is currently the sole contributor. He is judging his own contributions. Is this in order? -----Shwetha (talk) 14:20, 3 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Shwetha: from what I've understood, your question is that you want to make sure the jury process for WAM in siwiki_p goes smooth. The current organizer should have ability to understand all policies in siwiki_p. Though he is the only contributor to the event so far. I am one jury member simply because I want to check the jury tool and oversees the process. As of judging articles, if I ever need to do that, I'll have to read them by Google Translate :(. So it would be best if you want to join as an organizer for siwiki_p.--Fantasticfears (talk) 16:58, 4 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
The google translator is not a successful tool atleast for Sinhala. Thus if you use it to judge the articles, it is not suitable. Hence the best way would be to persuade a senior wikipedian from Sinhala Wikipedia to be an organizer. I do not have time for this. Considering the current situation, I do not think we can satisfy ourselves about judging process in Wikipedia Asian Month 2017 in Sinhala Wikipedia. --- Shwetha (talk) 02:59, 5 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Месяц Азии 2016

[edit]

Le Loy 23:57, 5 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Women in Red Contest

[edit]

All participants are welcome to also contribute the same articles to The World Contest for Asia. There's $200 and two biographical books on Asian women, Arabic and Japanese to win, each 500 odd pages. I think it might be more productive for your contest and vice versa. I will put up a section for Asian Month 2017 on the main contest page if there is significant support from here and you join in the WIR effort. Feel free to add articles done for Asian month in the article achievements section, all we ask for is that no paragraphs are unsourced and no very short stubs.Dr. Blofeld (talk) 11:29, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Spanish

[edit]

Today I created the page for Asian Month in 2017. But I don't know how to manage the tool. Please, can someone help me? Thanks! --Millars (talk) 13:57, 6 November 2017 (UTC) PD I modified the links to the tool changing 2016 to 2017 but it does not work. Should it be activated? And, how can I became a jury and add more members?Reply

German headline teaser refers to WAM 2016 instead of 2017

Asia2.0 Label

[edit]

Hello everyone,

We are Asia2.0, an online community for people working for a better understanding of asian cultures (also called anti-racist, but that's not important). We find the initiative wonderful, and would like to spread the campaign, by having a collective account or a label. Is it possible ? We are based in French speaking countries, and we'll do anything to create quality content.

Change in Rules in Fountain tool for Japanese Wikipedia

[edit]

Hi there - I am one of the organizers of WAM2017 in Japanese Wikipedia. We received a question regarding whether articles created on top of redirects (not on top of stubs) can be accepted. In the votes for recent new articles (ja:Wikipedia:メインページ新着投票所) we accept such cases so I believe we need to have such flexibility. Can anyone who has the access to change the settings on Fountain to implement this change? If it is not possible to handle automatically, then I am also fine to simply remove the criteria of creation date and creator on Fountain, and we verify by ourselves.--ネイ (talk) 11:09, 8 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hey @ネイ:, I have answered to this question on the Asian Wikipedians messenger group, Hope it helped you :)--Sailesh Patnaik 16:34, 25 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Saileshpat: (Sailesh Patnaik), I am not sure where is the Asian Wikipedians messenger group - would you mind pointing myself to there, or copying the answer to here so everyone can see it? Thanks.--ネイ (talk) 13:16, 26 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hey @ネイ:, My bad. I guess, I replied to Takashi's query on the messenger group. I think the juror should take their decision for this, as it is beyond the scope of the tool, If the jurors can do it manually it will really help. --Sailesh Patnaik 15:42, 26 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much, we will do it manually.--ネイ (talk) 08:35, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia Asian Art Month

[edit]
Night-Shining White, now in 3 languages.

We'd like to invite participant to join Wikipedia Asian Art Month; if you write just one article and include one of our images, you'll get a special Metropolitan Museum of Art postcard. And if you're one of the grand prize winners, you'll get a Met guidebook or Asian art publication.--Pharos (talk) 18:25, 16 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Pharos:, got any ideas for me? --Artix Kreiger (Message Wall) 18:52, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Artix Kreiger: Since you seem interested in Southeast Asia, how about an article on w:Dvaravati art? (see w:Dvaravati) You can use The Mon-Dvaravati Tradition of Early North-Central Thailand as a reference, and all of the images on that page should be on Commons (let me know if you have trouble finding them).--Pharos (talk) 19:24, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Pharos:, started. I meant to add to the userspace, but I made a mistake and left a 2 line thing in the mainspace. can you delete? --Artix Kreiger (Message Wall) 19:36, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Artix Kreiger:Sure, done.--Pharos (talk) 19:38, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Pharos:, published. --Artix Kreiger (Message Wall) 19:41, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Is a Pakistani-American Muslim character article in an American comic considered WAM qualified?

[edit]

Hi. One of the Japanese WAM participant created ja:ミズ・マーベル. This Marvel comic character is a Muslim and a Pakistani-American, according to the article. Is this article considered to be qualified "Asian" article? I think, hmm, it's difficult to say, but yes. --Takot (talk) 01:39, 26 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Takot:, Please consider it as a person of Asian origin. (I hope it will work)--Sailesh Patnaik 18:30, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Articles created in November but not included till November 30th

[edit]

Hello. I'm one of the organizer in Spanish, and a user reported that he created the articles but he could not add them to the tool. Now he can not do that because the tool does not allow to include more articles. The user is Ehenriquezc and his articles: es:Conferencia episcopal de Corea, es:Conferencia Episcopal de Myanmar, es:Conferencia Episcopal de Taiwán and es:Conferencia de los Obispos Católicos del Japón. I ask if he can receive the postal card. Thanks. --Millars (talk) 18:52, 1 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Millars:, Please consider them and I guess, the tool is now accepting articles. Please try.-- Sailesh Patnaik 18:33, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello! I requested a username change in a Wikipedia I was selected an Ambassador (ptwiki), but I had already submitted the form for the WAM address collection. The request wasn't filled yet, but I think it might be before the end of the January. Will there be any kind of problem with that? Do I need to resubmit the form or anything like that? Nandachuva (talk) 15:32, 9 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Nandachuva: I can see your address.--Fantasticfears (talk) 17:46, 2 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

"Second Ambassador"?

[edit]

Hey, I just noticed that Wikipedia Asian Month/2017 Ambassadors distinguishes between "First Ambassador" and "Second Ambassador". This wasn't exactly as it was presented to me here; I assumed that, if there was any difference, I would be given the "first-place" position since the other editor had repeatedly violated the entry rules, and the other editor would be given the "second-place" position and still named an ambassador after their copy-vio articles were disqualified. Is there any way to remedy this? Hijiri88 (talk) 12:58, 26 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
