Current industrial applications demand the design of more and more complex, safe and trustworthy ... more Current industrial applications demand the design of more and more complex, safe and trustworthy control systems which exhibit a high degree of flexibility and reutilization. To achieve this, the engineering process has to be improved through the integration of the tools involved in the development process. To achieve this goal the definition of Markup Languages for factory automation has been proposed at different layers of the engineering process. They allow defining the application from different points of view. Each point of view uses a particular syntax and semantics. Applications are defined by means of a set of view models as well as their relationships. This paper proposes a further step as the mechanisms needed for exchanging information among models are analyzed. They are used in the design of a model collaboration prototype for distributed industrial control systems.

ABSTRACT Industrialization of parallel robots requires the development of control laws that explo... more ABSTRACT Industrialization of parallel robots requires the development of control laws that exploit their capabilities in high performance tasks. Although research in this area is increasing, theoretical results need to be experimentally tested in order to evaluate the proposed solutions. In this paper, implementation requirements of control laws in parallel robotics are discussed, and a design for implementing a real-time control and validation environment is proposed. This design provides three main advantages: (1) is focused on reducing the implementation and validation effort of control laws on prototypes, (2) is defined as an open and modular design, which allows to implement new functionalities, and (3) proposes a hardware abstraction layer which simplifies the implementation of different control laws for a given prototype. The proposed design is validated by its implementation in a five revolute joints parallel robot prototype.

In such an scenario, middleware technologies that provide real-time or QoS support are gaining importance, as they ease the development and deployment of complex distributed applications in heterogeneous networks while ensuring certain time and QoS constraints. In this sense, distribution middleware technologies like Data Distribution Service (DDS) have emerged, adding extensive QoS support to traditional middleware advantages. This paper proposes an additional middleware layer on top of DDS, based on components, that provides an easy way to deploy, configure and manage component based distributed applications, considering fault tolerance aspects.

Es evidente que en los próximos años gran parte de las tecnologías recogidas bajo el marco de la ... more Es evidente que en los próximos años gran parte de las tecnologías recogidas bajo el marco de la denominada Industria 4.0 tendrá un profundo impacto en todas las empresas y entre ellas, en las relacionadas con la explotación y producción de petróleo y gas. La automatización de bajo coste promueve arquitecturas de referencia rentables y nuevos enfoques de desarrollo para aumentar la flexibilidad y la eficiencia de las operaciones de producción en una planta industrial. En este sentido, OPC UA, proporciona acceso local y remoto a la información de planta, facilitando un mecanismo reconocido de integración tanto horizontal como vertical de manera correcta, segura y eficiente. El objetivo principal de este artículo es presentar una arquitectura abierta para la integración vertical basada en sistemas ciber-físicos de producción, configurados bajo la norma IEC 61499 y usando OPC UA, apta para su utilización en la fabricación flexible en la industria de petróleo ygas.

The so-called Intelligent Oil Field (IOF) promotes reference architectures and development approaches that improve the flexibility and efficiency of upstream and downstream process. In this sense, OPC UA provides local and remote access to plant information, allowing horizontal and vertical integration in a reliable, safe and efficient way. This article contributes an open IOF architecture for vertical integration based on cyber-physical production systems, configured under IEC 61499 and using OPC UA. Therefore, the proposal is suitable to achieve flexible manufacturing.

This paper proposes a solution for the design and runtime management of indoor eHealth applications with security requirements.
