Cristina Sanchez-Sanchez
I have a degree in Advertising and Public Relations from Universidad Pompeu Fabra / UPF (2014, Extraordinary End of Studies Award), a Master in Research in Social Communication from UPF (2015, Excellent), and a Ph.D. in Communication from the same university (2020, Cum Laude).
I have worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Communication at UPF (2014-2015), as a Research Assistant (2015), and as a Predoctoral Researcher in the same department (2015-2019). From September 2016 to November 2019, I was a beneficiary of the grant "Formación del Profesorado Universitario" (FPU15/00169), a highly competitive scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport (Spanish Government) for the
completion of my doctoral thesis and for my training as a university teacher.
During all these years working at university, I have taught in the courses "Sociology of Communication and Methods of Social Research in Communication", "Fundamentals of Advertising" and "Analysis of Persuasive Discourses", all of them from the degree in Advertising and Public Relations of UPF.
Moreover, I have collaborated in the research groups Medium, CritiCC and UNICA, and I have published scientific articles in journals indexed in the main social sciences’ databases (such as Web of Science or Scopus), I have written book chapters for prestigious academic publishers (such as Gedisa or Dykinson), I have participated in several international conferences with relevant feedback from my colleagues (in 2017 I received the Best Paper Award for my communication in the "19th edition of the International Conference on Happiness and Development"), and I have organised and attended to multiple activities carried out by the Faculty of Communication of UPF.
My main lines of research are, among others, the semiotic analysis of discourse and image, the study of media and political communication, the critical studies on happiness, the rhetoric of social problems, and the relationship between the socioeconomic context and the public discourses.

Master thesis by Cristina Sanchez-Sanchez
During the social signification processes, values are defined ideologically from their articulation, generating empty and floating signifiers (Laclau, 2005) that are part of the political proposals of the parties along the communication campaigns and establish a particular idea of what is desirable: public happiness. Through an intensive and extensive content analysis with a semio-narrative approach, this study shows the role that occupy the values or signifiers that shape this social and political chimera in the television commercials of PP, PSOE and IU.

study of the citizen’s happiness as an alternative measure of a
country’s progress to GDP, happiness as a public concern is still an
ambiguous concept, hard to define. Moreover, different notions are
used indiscriminately to talk about the same thing. This investigation
aims to determine the conceptions of happiness, well-being and
quality of life that originate from the indexes that different
governments and public institutions around the world have created to
study them. Through the Scoping Review method, this study
identifies the recent academic research in this field (a total of 267
documents between 2006 and 2016) from some of the most popular
social sciences databases around the world, Web of Science, Scopus,
JSTOR, Sage, EBSCO, IBSS and Google Scholar, and in Spain,
ISOC and Dialnet. These 267 documents referenced 53 different
indexes and researches. The Grounded Theory method has been
applied to a sample of 13 indexes in order to identify the main
categories they use to determine these three concepts. The results
show that these are multi-dimensional concepts and similar indicators
are used indistinctly to measure happiness, well-being and quality of
life.

Encuesta a 138 individuos y
