Research
ETH D-MTEC’s faculty members are distinguished economists, management scholars, policy experts, entrepreneurs and executives of organisations from the private and public sector.
Our research is focused on relevant topics in management, technology, and economics driven by our vision of a sustainable future.
In particular, we are interested in:
- innovation processes
- technological change
- the sustainable use of natural resources and energy
- the regional and international supply and value chains
- operations and information management
- entrepreneurship
- work psychology
- human resources
- entrepreneurial and financial risks
- systems dynamics
In all these fields, we evaluate the societal impact of new technologies and globalisation. Moreover, the effects and the desirability of governmental policies are included in the analysis. As knowledge creation and problem solving are both part of our competence, we aim at the integration of knowledge between university and firms in applied projects. We support the aim to establish technology as a top concern and a dominant process in entrepreneurship.
We highly value the application of different scientific methods and experiences in management and economics. We largely rely on quantitative methods to solve problems in well-defined and designed systems, pursuing the long ETH tradition of engineering-based science. While solving management and economics problems, we develop and convey approaches which combine the various cross-disciplinary perspectives.
