Abi Ocobock
I am an Assistant Professor in Sociology at Notre Dame.
I obtained my PhD in Sociology at the University of Chicago where I was also a William Rainey Harper Dissertation Fellow.
I was born and raised in the United Kingdom, where I gained a First (BA) in Politics from the University of East Anglia and an M.Sc in Comparative Social Policy from Oxford University.
My current book project (under contract with the University of Chicago Press) focuses on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer (LGBQ) individuals who gained access to legal marriage. Drawing on mixed methods research with 116 participants, it examines the institutional mechanisms through which marriage impacts their couple, family, and social relationships.
I am also currently investigating how couples navigate the competing demands of work and parenting during the COVID-19 pandemic.
