It is a key component of healthy relationships, as it allows individuals to communicate their needs and boundaries without being aggressive or passive. However, when assertive behaviour is lacking, it could contribute to domestic violence. This is because individuals who are unable to assert themselves may be more likely to tolerate abusive behaviour from their partners. They may also be less likely to leave abusive relationships, as they may fear retaliation or believe that they deserve the abuse. However, there is a paucity of empirical research on assertive behaviour and domestic violence among public secondary school teachers in Kwara State. The objectives of the study are to examine the level of assertive behaviour among public secondary school teachers; establish the causes of domestic violence and investigate the relationship between the two variables. The study population includes 8172 public secondary school teachers in the state, from which a sample of 401 respondents was selected. The adopted questionnaires on the Assertive Behaviour Scale (ABS) by Ongong (2013) and the Domestic Violence Scale (DVS) by Marcia Bench (2018) were used to collect data for the study. The analyses were done using descriptive statistics of percentages and Pearson's. The results of this study revealed that married teachers suffer domestic violence as a result of low levels of assertive behaviour among Teachers in Public Secondary Schools In Kwara State, Nigeria. It also showed that there is a significant relationship between assertive behaviour and domestic violence among married teachers. Based on these findings, it was recommended that married couples should be enlightened on the importance of assertive behaviour in marriage, marriage counsellors should expose couples to causes of domestic violence in marriage, and there should be periodic enlightenment on how poor assertive behaviour leads to domestic violence in marriage.

Although, major parts of the Millennium Development Goals are focused on Women while almost half of the 17 points Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals is equally dedicated to Womanhood for every nation to implement through her government, yet the socio- economic condition of Nigerian women is still quite pathetic given the present turbulent political situation amidst the present poor human development index, poor health facilities and viscous fluid of discrimination against the girl child and womanhood. The new critical paradigm institutionalizing counselling as an effective tool of empowerment for human development, human security and human rights is needed. Such a shift is required to sufficiently utilize the counselling skills, principles and models to solve various intractable problems of womanhood. The paper, therefore, posits that there is a need for government to expand the scope of resources through diversification of economy into other critical areas especially agriculture. Also, the bill on the Elimination of all forms of discrimination against women need to be domesticated for every nation’s implementation. Conclusively and in vivid term, the paper stressed that women empowerment is inadequate without counselling empowerment.

I... more Academic self-handicapping behaviour is a prominent factor militating against academic success. Intervention studies on academic self-handicapping behaviour particularly among distance learners in Nigeria are scarce. This study, therefore, examined the effects of Cognitive Control Therapy (CCT) and Psychodynamic Therapy (PT) on academic self-handicapping behaviour among distance learners. The moderating effects of gender and self-esteem were also examined. Three study centres of the National Open University of Nigeria were randomly selected; a ten-session training on CCT and PT was carried out on two study centres while a centre was used as a control. Academic self-handicapping behaviour scale ( .83) was used as a screening device. Academic self-handicapping behaviour ( .90) and Rosenberg self-esteem ( .91) scales were used for data collection. Three hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Analysis of covariance and Duncan post-hoc test were used for data analysis. The result showed a significant main effect of treatment on academic self-handicapping behaviour of distance learners (F(2,119) = 17.59, partial = .23). Participants in PT ( = 37.31) and CCT ( = 37.93) had a better reduction in academic self-handicapping behaviour than those in the control ( = 61.08) group. There were no significant main effects of gender and self-esteem on reduction of academic self-handicapping behaviour. It was concluded that Cognitive control and Psychodynamic Therapies were effective in the reduction of academic self- handicapping behaviour. Based on the finding, it is recommended that the two therapeutic techniques should be utilized by Counselling psychologists and other therapists to help clients who may be experiencing academic self-handicapping behaviour especially among distance learners.

Pretestposttest, control group quasi-experimental design with a 2x2 factorial matrix was used in the study. The stratified random sampling technique was used in selecting 98 participants from NOUN centres in Southwestern States. The respondents were measured with relevant adopted standardized scales (instruments) and the data obtained was analyzed using t-test statistical analysis. Two (2) research hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The result showed that there was significant difference in the academic self-handicapping behaviour of distance learners exposed to psychodynamic therapy and those in the control group (t= 52.84; p<0.05) and that there was no significant difference in the academic self-handicapping behaviour of distance learners based on selfesteem (t= 2.26; p<0.05). In view of these findings, the study stressed that educational psychologists should intensify their effort to organize seminars/conferences on the implications of psychodynamic therapy as effective interventions towards enhancing academic self-handicapping behaviour of distance learners.

Mental health includes psychological, emotional, and social well-being, while the SDGs are to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace, prosperity now and in the future. The purpose of this paper is to propose techniques for developing youth mental health in Nigeria for the realisation of the SDGs. The paper has been able to explain the mental health crisis in Nigeria, legislation on mental health, and the concept of sustainable development, among others. The paper further explicates the mechanism for nurturing youth mental health for the realisation of the SDGs. The paper recommends that there should be an increase in support and promotion of mental health using respected public figures like religious leaders in the mosque, church, and establishment of a sin tax and a telecommunications tax, as means of raising public funds for investment in health care generally and on mental health in particular.

Atchley describes the five phases of retirement: preparation, honeymoon, disillusionment, reorientation, and stability. Age, financial independence, professional success, burnout, and unpleasant job situations might precipitate retirement. Psychosocial variables underlying this attitude are rarely studied. This research examined how psychosocial factors affect police officers' retirement attitudes. Two hundred and Ten police officers preparing for retirement at Lagos police headquarters. 87% were males. 11.2% were single, 77.8% married, and 3 (1.4%) separated. Mean age was 57.20 (S.D.=4.55) and Police experience ranged from 30 to 35 years with an average salary of =N=41,345 per month. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics and t-tests at p<0.05. Police officers who own their own homes had a more favourable outlook on retirement (t (208) =-2.04, p<.05). Low-stress police officers viewed retirement more favourably than high-stress officers (t (208) =-2.63, p<.01). Police officers' attitudes on retiring differed significantly based on their social support (t (208) = 5.095, p<.01). Low perceived wellbeing police officers had a less positive attitude towards retiring than high perceived wellness officers (t (208) =-4.78, p.05). High perceived employability boosted retirement planning (t (208) =-2.86, p.01). Police with more than 5 dependents expressed a less favourable attitude towards retiring (t (208) =-3.01, p<.01). The research found that police retirees' satisfaction levels affect their post-retirement lives. The police service commission was instructed to provide retirement planning, counselling, and training.

Any fundamental change in the intellectual and social outlook of any Society has to be preceded by an Educational revolution. In this realm, research has shown a direct correlation between Education and Development. Illiteracy, Poverty, Low development indices, have roots in low level of Education. There is therefore a clear relationship between a nation’s institutional governance frameworks, economic progress and Education offered her people. Thus, keeping up with the current developmental trend in Education becomes highly imperative using Counselling as a tool for a paradigm shift for proper shaping and re-positioning of Education in order to realise an effective functionality of the Educational System. The paper therefore, leveraged on Theory of Planned Behaviour by Ajzen (2005) which is the theoretical framework for the paper, that explains the relationship between attitude and behaviour; showing that behaviour is the direct result of a behavioural intention. In furtherance, the paper utilized Positive Mindset Model for learning new concept to drive home the Counselling intervention need for the required paradigm shift. The paper then posited that the new trend in Education is a sine-qua-non for all education stakeholders to embrace and operationalize for the realisation of our sustainable development in all ramifications.
