At the moment there is very limited systematic evidence on the role of these systems in healthcare. The PudMed, Emerald, CSA Engineering Research Database, ScienceDirect, ISI Web of Knowledge and Cinahl databases were searched, covering the period from January 2000 to April 2009. Studies were included if they concerned enterprise resource planning systems integrated into healthcare. The selected studies were analyzed with the thematic synthesis technique. The 135 articles were analyzed on the basis of the titles, abstracts, and full texts. At every phase, a number of articles were rejected for not meeting the inclusion criteria, and finally, 9 articles were accepted for deeper analysis. Three areas of views and experiences were identified from the reviewed studies. Furthermore, two challenge classes were identified when imple...

Integrating Open/Citizen Science in Higher Education is a great way to engage students and general population and help them feel empowered. Open/Citizen Science is a powerful tool for teaching science, but it must be made accessible and easy to use by both faculty members and students. As the world becomes increasingly more connected, how can higher education be prepared to meet the challenges of a new era? One answer might lie in citizen science and open science. Citizen scientists are volunteers who make contributions to scientific research without having a formal position in the field or being paid for their work. Open science lab projects provide students with hands-on opportunities for scientific inquiry and discovery in different areas of research. The purpose of this study was to find out to what extent Open/Citizen science has been integrated in higher education and what are the impacts and challenges regarding to Open and Citizen Science in higher education. The f...

The purpose of this study was to find out how enterprise resource planning systems (ERP) have been used in the healthcare sector and how these systems could be used to improve healthcare services. The field of IT now encompasses all industries , including the healthcare sector, which is currently going through fundamental changes. Based on the literature reviewed in this study, the use of ERP systems in the healthcare sector has not been widely reported. However, some findings showed that ERP systems could be used in the healthcare sector to improve the quality of services. Based on these findings, if ERP systems were successfully implemented in healthcare organisations, they would promote significant changes in certain areas such as in finance, human resources and capacity, revenue and admission resources. ERP systems could also improve both the profitability and services of healthcare organisations. Because of the lack of research in this area, further studies should investigate the usage of ERP in healthcare organisations.
