Kevin Hoffman - Real-World Event Sourcing (Highlights)

- The fundamental idea of Event Sourcing is that of ensuring every change to the state of an application is captured in an event object, and that these event objects are themselves stored in the sequence they were applied for the same lifetime as the application state itself. - You can think of a process manager as the opposite of an aggregate: aggregates handle commands and create events; process managers handle events and create commands. ([View Highlight](https://read.readwise.io/read/01jqnys0w9meyeag2ap5eawb68)) ^870811555

Quite a Stretch: Stretching Hype Debunked
31 minutes ago by conny.kuehne
The goal of this huge article is to persuade you, with plenty of science, that stretching is not an important part of fitness and wellness.
Stretching is not a good warm up. It can’t prevent or treat soreness or injury in general, or enhance performance — but it certainly can cause injuries, and it can actually slow you down!
Stretching will boost flexibility, yes, but so can strength training,1 which is arguably much more valuable to fitness than flexibility alone, which isn’t very useful on its own… even for most athletes.
Stretching has almost no value in treating any common kind of chronic pain. It cannot even fix poor posture, which is often blamed for pain (and much too often2).

Rodney breathes out, rough and exasperated. John thinks he might be the only one in the universe who can hear the tenderness contained in Rodney's murmured "you are so fucked in the head".

Rabbit Cohen: "discussion of self harm (not g…" - Mastodon

Most people who self harm don't do it for attention. But even if that is the reason, that doesn't mean that the distress isn't serious or valid. If someone is in such dire need of attention that they resort to doing physical harm to their body, that's a serious problem. That's not something that should be ridiculed or disregarded.
