Therefore, the aim of this study was to explore the relationship between social media use and academic performance in English as a second language (ESL) students. 412 secondary school students from Karachi participated in the study, which used quantitative research techniques. The study's conclusions showed that students used social media platforms to a respectable extent. Additionally, it was found that ESL students' use of social media considerably improved their ESL learning outcomes. By identifying the influence of social media use, educators and policymakers may create plans to maximize its potential for raising academic engagement and performance among ESL students. It may also come from further research in this area, which will ultimately benefit ESL students and their educational experiences.

Though the discourse is oriented towards these recipients, they very often cannot make instantaneous responses to the producer(s) of the discourse, though increasingly this is changing with the advent of new media technology, as we shall explore. Crucially, the written or spoken discourse itself is oriented to the readership or listening/viewing audience, respectively. In other words, media discourse is a public, manufactured, on-record, form of interaction. It is not ad hoc or spontaneous (in the same way as casual speaking or writing is); it is neither private nor off the record. Obvious as these basic characteristics may sound, they are crucial to the investigation, description and understanding of media discourse. Because media discourse is manufactured, we need to consider how this has been done – both in a literal sense of what goes into its making and at an ideological level. One important strand of research into media discourse is preoccupied with taking a critical stance to media discourse, namely critical discourse analysis (CDA). It is important that we continually appraise the messages that we consume from our manufactured mass media. The fact that media discourse is public means that it also falls under the scrutiny of many conversation analysts who are interested in it as a form of institutional talk, which can be compared with other forms of talk, both mundane and institutional. The fact that media discourse is on record makes it attractive for discourse analysts and increasingly so because of the online availability of newspapers, radio stations, television programmes and so on. Advances in technology have greatly offset the ephemerality factor that used to relate to media discourse, especially radio and television (where it used to be the case that, if you wanted to record something, it had to be done in real time). It is a time of great change in media discourse, and this chapter aims to capture this moment, especially in the final section, where traditional notions of media discourse are challenged, in this time of opening up of the medium through Web 2 technologies.

From the results of the research it was concluded that the implementation of English language at primary level was not as efficient as it might have been desired because of the delay on material delivery, lack of teaching resources and teachers’ degree of motivation which was affected by low salary, lack of good working conditions and not clear perspectives of carrier development. Concerning the delay on the teaching material, it was considered to be difficult for the new teachers to overcome the problem by using other types of materials since some of the schools are located in the rural areas which are isolated and unable to share the difficulties they face in buying their own material due to financial constraints. The study revealed that schools should allow teachers to reproduce some of materials using the schools’ photocopying machines. Due to the nature of the subject we could not dogmatise the results obtained from this dissertation. Thus, it was suggested that more studies are be carried out in the future to measure progress in this field. English as a Foreign Language, English Language Teaching

Don't overcomplicate things. Use simple language. Before you speak, think about the message that you want to get across. George Bernard Shaw is reputed to have said that "The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place". Check with others to make sure that they have understood your message. • Brevity: Don't waffle: it's infuriating. Don't 'dance around' your subject or give way more background information than is necessary. Don't use one hundred words where ten will do. Get to

They had introduced a new type of extremism which had no concern with Islamic values and it also does not abide by the humanitarian laws. The present research is the study of Afghan females' subjugation which has deeply imbibed into their social milieu. Khaled Hosseini's A Thousand Splendid Suns, depicts how Islamic fundamentalists in Afghanistan try to impose their laws to ensure and prolong their ruling position in that society. Backed by religion as an imperialist force, they create a system that backs up oppression of the others in every walk of life by considering themselves superior to the others. The research is purely qualitative in nature and it has used contextual analysis of the relevant excerpts as its mode. It is based on the theory of Iris Marion Young's Five Faces of Oppression to execute the subjected forms of Afghan females. The paper concludes that major female characters are the victims of gender apartheid and they suffer a lot in the effort to avert the unjustified implications of Talibans.

As new era demands new strategies, therefore, this study also intends to determine the needs to include new ideas of ESP curriculum in order to align to the new market requirements of the students. The qualitative data has been collected in the form of interviews from a total of thirty undergraduate students of Computer and Engineering departments of the two universities, namely, National University of Modern Languages and Air University. The analysis of the data reflects that the knowledge undergraduate students got from their respective university is not sufficient and requires addition as well as modification in the course outline in order to make it more helpful in the professional life. Moreover, the ESP design at hand has limitations to live up to the practical requirements of professionals to perform better in the markets. There also seems to be a gap between students' requirements and the course outlines they are exposed to. Moreover, this study suggests that aforementioned universities should restructure their course designs for ESP Program so that students are benefitted from it and after completion of this course, they are able to perform and communicate more effectively in their professional milieu.

O my Luve is like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in June;
O my Luve is like the melody
That’s sweetly played in tune.
So fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry.
Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
I will love thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.
And fare thee weel, my only luve!
And fare thee weel awhile!
And I will come again, my luve,
Though it were ten thousand mile.
