These concerns have trade specific implications as well. This paper makes an effort to take stock of broad institutional arrangements which have come up to address some of these concerns viz. a viz. trade obligations. In this context, the role of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (CPB) is also analysed.

These essays address a variety of environmental and health-related standards and their prohibitive effect, discriminatory impact, and high-compliance costs—all of which hurt these developing markets.

The ongoing exclusion of human genetic resources (HGRs) from this debate does not reflect the realities of research in the twenty-first century, and the need for a unified regulatory policy governing the use of HGRs is becoming pressing.

The experience of the Kani suggests that a strong institutional framework with committed staff is essential for the success of any ABS arrangement.

Though India has diversified the regional focus and has multiplied the quantum of development assistance, there remain several challenges at various levels. The expectations from the development partners have gone up but is India prepared with the institutional frameworks that would be required to administer the desired scale of response?

Human resource, infrastructure, international cooperation, research, regulatory mechanisms, technology transfer, funding and investments in biotechnology, are discussed.

In the Asian region their growth and economic expansion has generated its own complementarities. The paper has empirically shown that surge in the exports of these two countries have significantly contributed to their overall economic growth. Towards this end, both the countries have relied on LDCs and developing countries for their imports and on markets of industrialised economies for exports.

The research was carried out in munitions testing sites New Golloway (SW) of Scotland at the Dunderann firing range which is contaminated with depleted uranium and site is particularly important because it provides a controlled environment for the investigation of post depositional association of Depleted Uranium (DU) in contaminated soils.

The concentration of radionuclides in biota as well as corresponding soil was measured by precipitation method using NaI detector for continuous 12 months.

It is also expected to generate employment, environmental stability and energy self reliance. Biogas could meet the ever growing energy demand, and reduce India's dependency on oil imports. Biogas production is stimulated by a popular publicity campaign and subsidized construction of biogas plants, so that biogas plants are increasingly gaining a strong foothold in India.
