Abstract: With sharp economic growth, the international focus on 'aid'programmes of emerging economies, including India, has gone up considerably. The timing of Indian announcement, of setting up of a new and specialised agency for international cooperation, has further fuelled global speculations about an ambitious Indian 'commercial agenda.'As most of the traditional donors are trying to achieve harmonisation and transparency under Paris Declaration, OECD has called for global discipline in the aid programmes.

Abstract This article attempts to look into the dynamics of a national system of biotechnology innovation (NSBI) in the wider framework of its role in economic development. It has been found that NSBI crucially depends not only on budgetary allocations and institutional support for advancement, but also on response to market demand. The evidence from Singapore shows that a sectoral approach in NSBI may help developing countries in finding a niche for growth instead of broadening the area of investment within biotechnology.

ABSTRACT With the launch of the South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA), trade integration in the South Asian subregion is likely to expand. However, not enough attention is being paid to the environmental implications of the Agreement. This is a feature of most free trade agreements (FTAs) being implemented in Asia despite the precedence established in some other FTAs.

Abstract: The prospective entry of generic dominated Indian pharmaceutical sector in the ambit of new technologies is likely to give filip to emergence of strong biopharmaceutical sector. It is pertinent in this context to draw a policy roadmap which takes into account sectoral dynamics and draws upon regional and international linkages. An appropriate balance between national system of innovation (NSI) and sectoral system of innovation (SSI) would determine trajactory of growth of this sector.

The practice of biotechnology in its varied forms, varying in style, substance and scale, reveals shared histories with the planet's peoples and cultures in the developed and developing worlds. Biotechnology has a long history. Old as the growing of crops and the making of cheese and the production of wines, its practice has been described as one of the oldest professions in the world. Modern Biotechnology, in general, embraces more often the principles and practise of genetic engineering.

" In order to embark on the transition to a sustainable energy future–a future in which greenhouse gas concentration would be stabilized at a level that prevents dangerous interference with the climate system–governments and the private sector, civil society and international organisations must understand and address the challenges posed by developments in the global energy sector. Trade policy strategies must also deal with these processes in a comprehensive manner.

Executive Summary In recent years, South Asia has received growing attention as a region that is integrating successfully into the world economy. South Asia has successfully converted preferential trading agreement (SAPTA) into a free trade agreement (SAFTA) in July 2006. However, intra-subregional transit trade volume is still miniscule in eastern South Asia (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal), compared to its extra-subregional transit trade.

Abstract—Neogene planktonic foraminifera from DSDP Sites 214, 216 and 217 (Ninetyeast Ridge) from the tropical Indian Ocean were quantitatively analysed. Site 214 has a singularly superb, continuous sequence with abundant planktonic foraminifera all through the Neogene. At this site a brief interval of dissolution followed by a hiatus in the early part of the Middle Miocene is recorded. Stratigraphie ranges of planktonic foraminifera enabled recognition of 24 zones from Late Oligocene to Pleistocene.

The introduction of the Information Technology Act in 2000, which proposed institutional support to ensure commitment for e-governance, provided a major policy impetus for TF.

Abstract Radiation dose-risk assessment was carried out for cereal species Brassica compestris var. dichotoma, Oryza sativa var. Shalum1, Zea mays, Lactuca indica, Cumunis sativum, and Clocasia esculanta due to naturally available radionuclides 40 K, 238 U and 232 Th in Domiasiat area. The activity in biota and corresponding soil was measured by precipitation method using NaI (TI) detector.
