This study discusses the main character named Penelope Longstreet’s
behavior in the film script entitled Carnage which explained through plot seen from the operation of structure of personality by Sigmund Freud. Furthermore, several theories were used in order to analyze this film script; the theories are plot which contains five stages known as exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution; theory of anxiety, the structure of personality which contains id, ego, superego; and defense mechanisms. In every stages of the plot there are events that represented Penelope’s id, ego and superego and there was a clash between id and superego because of the opposite reactions. As the result, Penelope’s ego used defense mechanisms in order to survive from her anxiety as the result of the clash. In the end, from finding out the events in the plot stages until the operation of structure of personality, Penelope’s behavior could be revealed.
